    Super noob question

If you grill off some burgers quickly, even in the 375-450 temp range, you won't really get any real smoke. But, you will get just a kiss of it that makes it unique. It's hard to describe, but the character is something you just won't get on a gas grill. Same as charcoal, or stick, pellet...

    Super noob question

Bought our Traeger in January, use it 2-3 times a week. The Weber has only been used twice in all over the same time. We are not heavy smoke people. Use it like a grill, and it'll grill.

    Diving into pellet grills

If I were ever to up-size from my Traeger 22, the silverbac would be a strong contender. I like the heavier duty construction, yet still under $1k. Granted, you add a shelf, PID control, umbrella holder, and comp cart you're quickly spending $1.5k.

Need a new sealer, hunter style duty

+1 on the Vac Master 350. Great machine. I also have their vp112 chamber sealer for the juicy stuff. I am an average home user and have had zero problems with either machine.

    My traeger/Oklahoma Joe pellet burner!

Really great idea, but I have an observation..... I think you should make a sub plate to space the assembles a little bit farther outside. You can see a flange around the tunnel, maybe 1/2" from the hopper body. I would imagine that 1/2" gap should be there, on the outside of the grill, to...

    New Broil King pellet grills

That price point puts it right in there with some mid to high end grills. I don't know if I could put one over a Rec Tec or Yoder without kicking the tires.

    New Broil King pellet grills

I watched the video, very cool stuff. It's definitely a cut above the classic Traeger/clone. I too would want to handle one before spending the money. Looks legit though.

    Seasoning Cast Iron Grill Grate

Welcome to the forum! I would hit it with a wire brush when it's hot to knock the big funk off. Then maybe wipe it down with an oiled paper towel if it was looking dry. Keep the meat juices flowing and it'll take care of itself for the most part.

That Mac n cheese looks outstanding! A great first cook is always a giant relief. Rec Tec always seem to deliver.

Pit Boss Austin XL... Anything better for $500 or less?

I would get it. If the temp swings bug you, the food will be fine though, you can always add a Savannah Stoker or similar PID controller for much better accuracy later on. You'd still be half the price of a spendy grill in a similar size.

    My new stuffer.

Can't wait to hear a review. I'm currently looking at getting into some sausage. A stuffer is definitely in my future.

    Opinions on Pellet grills

Very true, I bought mine based on 3 separate friends having them and making great food. Plus I was supporting my local Do It Best hardware. If I were to do it again, I'd gotten something clean off of the market place, and updated it to a PID. I tend to start modest and just concentrate on...

    Opinions on Pellet grills

Adding a PID to my Traeger has really changed how the grill feels. It makes my mediocre grill feel much higher quality. A decent amount of accuracy, literal or perceived, makes a difference. Why wouldn't Traeger or somebody similar take advantage of it.

    Opinions on Pellet grills

Non-PID is better because the $/unit is probably measurably cheaper. Millions of Pit Boss and Traegers out there making the same food a few thousand Rec Tec or MAKs are making. Buy whatever makes you feel good. If a $5000 pellet grill, built with .500" thick plate steel, gets you there, go for...

Proof is in the quality of your finished product. I could care less how you get there. Enjoy your process. Like anything, repetition and knowing your equipment, PID or not, matters most.

    Opinions on Pellet grills

I'm going PID as we speak on my Traeger. I don't have a problem finding enough smoke to satisfy my pallet, so I really could care less with the non-PID argument. My brain likes to see accuracy, so in that alone it's worth the change. I don't expect to make any better food. I am a 25 yr...

    Pellet Smoking With Some Rain

If its raining I wheel mine just inside my garage. Overhead door up, grill as far out as I can get and stay dry. Probably not the best way to go, but I keep an eye on it.
