    traeger or pitboss

Grilla Grills are worth a hard look. I would like an Grilla Alpha Silverback. The PB for the price is pretty solid machine, especially for the sq inches. You could always add a Savannah PID control on it later and be under $850. The Facebook Savannah page is great, lots of PB setups

Traeger PRo 780 vs Ironwood 650

In this price range you're going to be bombarded with almost everything that's not Traeger. I am pleased with my Pro22 since upgrading the controller. You would likely be good to go with either. If I had to do over, or upgrade slightly, a Grilla Alpha Silverback is top of my list. A Rec Tec...

Rec Tec Bull or Pit Boss Pro 1100

Traeger, I believe, recommend only using the cold weather cover below 30F. I picked up a welding blanket from Harbor Freight for $20. I folding in half two or three times and it zip ties onto my Pro22 Traeger nicely. It's not the prettiest, but it does really help with temps when it gets cold.

Rec Tec Bull or Pit Boss Pro 1100

If an igniter went bad you could still start the grill with a torch or wax thing you use for starting charcoal in a chimney. It wouldn't be graceful, but you could still put a party on.

Pitboss 1100 & after market heat diffuser

70 degrees is pretty drastic. Were the temps that jacked up with the stock parts? I am not familiar with the PB controller, is there a way to calibrate the rtd setting?

Suggestions about using a Pellet Smoker in the Phoenix area in the summer

I have a Savannah Stoker on my Traeger. It seems to need the "low auger" setting adjusted a click or two seasonally to maintain the tightest low temp control.

    Traeger Timberline owners....

For that price there are a lot good grills available. Rec Tec and Grilla Grills would top my list. I don't at all think a Timberline is a bad grill, but definitely shop around. Many fishes out there

Rec tec 680 as only grill in the house?

It's a different animal, mostly comes down to perception. If you grill and smoke frequently, it's a neat way to sort of blend the two. If you've burned stick or charcoal and become tired of it, a pellet grill suddenly becomes pretty easy and worry free. If your just a hot/fast burger and hotdog...

Rec tec 680 as only grill in the house?

$500 would be hard to pas on. I have found pellet grilling a lot of fun, and have adapted some methods to use it more often. I am almost exclusively pellet now. Maybe it would blossom into something for you as well.

GMG DANIEL BOONE or REC TEC 590?

The Grilla Silverback in the Alpha trim level looks pretty sweet. If I were to upgrade from my Traeger, the Grilla and Rec would be neck and neck.

    ASH POWDER INSIDE PELLET GRILL

I got a cheap little blue one at Menards for the grill. Can't think of the name. It was a cheapy, $22 I think. Burgers, wings, steaks, ect I vacuum every 3-4 cooks. I'll vacuum after any longer cook like ribs, butt, or bacon. Basically whenever the foil liner gets funky. When in doubt, more...

    Smoke House Pellets?

I have used the char-hickory LJ pellets. I personally don't get a "hey that's charcoal" essence from it, but do I get a spicier profile from it. I usually have a bag of it to mix it with the regular 100% hickory LJ. I'm lucky to have a Rural King close to work, usually $9.99/20lb. The start-up...

    Traeger 22 pro series

If you're grilling, 300+ degrees, yeah, you'll use some pellets. Lower smoke temps, 200-225, you'll get way better mileage. I personally have not gone overnight yet. I would probably not let it go more than 5-6 hours without checking on it. You may have plenty of pellets, but I think you'd want...

    Traeger 22 pro series

If it's very clean, I would consider it, but agree it feels high. Show up with cash and maybe theyll come down. For a hundred or two more you could get a pit boss brand new, with a nice warranty. I have a pro 22 and really like it. A pit boss does the same thing. I'm not gonna tell you what...

The new Traegers are pretty sweet. Wear it out man, it'll make great food for you.

    Traeger Pellets

My neighbors use Traeger pellets. Food tastes great. I don't know, sometimes I think we take some of this stuff waaaayy to serious. If you can store them and maybe sell some of them, I'd use them for that price.

    Traeger Pro 780 help

+1. Pellet grills are not known for heavy smoke profiles.

    Diving into pellet grills

I'm in the same boat with my Traeger. I have it pretty dialed in now, this Savannah Stoker controller is awesome. Food gets better every cook. I'm going to try wearing it out before going with a higher quality brand name.

Has anyone used the "Heavy D" Stick burner attachment?

Moral of the story, buy a badass grill and run as its engineers have designed it. Unless you're adding a PID to an average traeger.:emoji_laughing:
