    Traeger Pro Series 34

Definitely, do some cheaper cooks to get a feel of it. Temps will swing, vary some side to side, ect. Pellet grills are their own sort of animal. I would do some "seasoning" runs on some burgers, bratts, and chicken wings.

    Rec Tec RT700 question

If you're just gonna spend the money regardless, the Yoder has a extra heavy duty vibe about it. If you just wanna cook, I think the Rec Tec is way better bang for the buck in value. Both will do a great job in the right hands. It's only a few hundred bucks, if you know you're gonna use it, get...

    Louisiana Grills LG900 Review Update

Does the shutdown procedure recommend lower the grill temp to 250F prior to shutting down? Maybe settling down the fire before going to shutdown would help prevent some of it. I get you though, once the trust has been broken its tough to get it back.

    Savannah stoker vs pellet pro

+1 on the Savannah. It's made my Traeger run the way it should.

Rec Tec Auger Jammed, need help

That's what I am wondering. It seems there's a lesson for all of us to learn here. I hope he can figure out what actually happened.

RecTec RT-700 "Bull" - First Impressions

I definitely like how responsive the company is to issues. Rec is still top of my list if I ever have to upsize.

Pellet grill (Traeger) = less smoke flavor?

My Smokin-It electric could put a pallet destroying amount of smoke on something and leave zero smoke ring. To cook anything responsibly, you had to weigh your wood chunks out by the ounce.

Grilla Grills Silverbac Issue with Lid

I'm glad they got back to you. Totally sucks you have to fine tune the door to fit though. With that ironed out, please keep us posted on the overall performance of the grill. We don't get much Grilla hands on impressions around this forum.

What brands should I stay away from? What should I consider?

I put a PID on my Traeger. It now holds +/- 5-7 degrees. Not sure it's made the food any better, but it has helped me focus more on the food. My brain could care less on the make and model of the grill, but the 25+/- temp swings were driving me crazy. A little more homework up front very likely...

Another "which of these smoker is best" thread...lol

I would caution anyone who wasn't familiar to pellet grilling from just going out and dropping $2k on a grill. A very competent Rec Tec would cost you half. If any of their reputation is true, a normal guy would have an impossible time wearing it out. My buddy uses his "measly" Pit Boss 3-4...

What brands should I stay away from? What should I consider?

Buy a clean, low mileage Traeger off of your local market place. Fair price and nice grill to see if you even like the pellet experience. I also have friends that thoroughly love and use their $500 Pit Bosses. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

    GMG vs. Traeger?

Rec Tec or Grilla should be top of your list.

    traeger or pitboss

Your really splitting hairs in this range. For "middle weight"money, make sure you check out the Grilla stuff. The Alpha Silverback falls in there and has some nice features. PID, stainless grates and shields, jacketed barrel, reinforced lid for long term fitment, nice cook space, pro cart...
