I have 2 offsets, a uds and a new YS640 pellet grill. One reason that i bought the yoder was for less smoke, for my ribs and chicken. That being said I think the pellet produces adequate smoke for most meats. If though you are looking for the blacken look that a offset makes I do not think it...
Well here it is My first turkey fattie...I did end up adding a pound of ground pork to the turkey. Also did a couple of bbq meat loafs at the same time.
I have the 640 and yes thus far I am burning about 1-2 lbs per hour. Pellets here cost about 14 bucks for 20 lbs or about $1.43 per lb... What about the smaller 480...it may burn less per hour than its bigger brother. Does anyone have figures for other similar cookers? The fast Eddie does...
Did you have in your grease deflection plate..under the rack..Also could be brand of pellets..they are not all the same I am using BBQ delight brand and have not had and issue...I have had my ys640 for about 3 weeks now.
So what does the real cost of the unit end up being after all the mods? And if a person is looking at buying this model they should just assume on doing the modifcations to have it cook correct.
Yes there are many choices out there. What you chose depends on budget, how much meat you plan on cooking and how much tending you want to do. Once you decide on those factors you can narrow down choices.
