    this year's harvest

https://www.reimerseeds.com/homemade-pickles-cucumbers.aspx Those ones. I am trying a lot of things. I've tried gardens in the past and have always had mixed results. Last year was going well until my cucumbers got overrun by moth larva. We will see how it goes this year. Going to cover the...

    this year's harvest

Habaneros, jalapenos, cayenne and bhut jolokia for fermenting and pickling. Cucumbers for eating and pickling. Okra for gumbo, frying and pickling. Beets, diakon radish, tomatoes, and artichokes as well. Have some garlic planted but it hasn't come up yet and it was supposed to already so we'll see.

Cajun Red Beans And Rice.....The Real Deal

Made this tonight with some andouille I made earlier in the week. Andouille was the recipe @indaswamp posted a link to a couple years ago. And cut And in the bowl. It was fantastic. Thanks for posting the recipe @TNJAKE.

    Grill buddy.....or enemy?

This is always the PITA with soft covers and why grills always ended up left uncovered. Previous owner left a very nice canopy on the back deck that has worked very well to keep the elements off my weber kettle.

Time to make some sauce.. I hope.

I think @jcam222 has said he uses xanthan gum sometimes to keep sauces from separating.

    Video games?

Never got into console gaming, but have spent plenty of time (and money) pc gaming. Currently though, just play Minecraft with my daughter. We have our own server setup that we play on together a couple times a week.

    Christmas Kraut Ready to go

Kraut is super easy to make. All it takes is some cabbage, salt and a mason jar. There are gadgets that can make it easier like the fermentation pot Jeff has, but its not absolutely necessary. I've made several batches and love to eat it with pretty much everything.

    Daikon Radish

The Ball Blue Book is available in pdf is available on the internet archive. https://archive.org/details/ball-blue-book-guide-to-preserving-2010/page/n9/mode/1up It doesn't have radishes, but has other root vegetables that USDA doesn't have.

    Daikon Radish

I've found plenty if fermenting and pickling recipes, just wondered if there was a way top can and use as a canned potato substitute. I may just try canning a batch like potatoes and see how it goes. If they smell or look funny I can pitch it and not be out anything. Here are USDAs general...

    Daikon Radish

I just planted most of my garden with daikon radish to aid in loosening up the soil. So in 40-50 days I'm gong to have a whole bunch on my hands. Does anyone know of a way to preserve radish other than freezing or pickling? USDA's home canning guide is silent on the matter, but there are alot of...

    Minute rice ruined me

Yes, grains. I fixed the spelling. Like @Steve H said, Cisco is not lard, but you could use Crisco instead of lard here. I try and not use processed vegetable oils when cooking and love the flavor lard adds to most things. It will give the rice a subtle porky flavor, yum.

    Minute rice ruined me

I cook rice all the time on the stove. I use a 10" deep straight sided skillet. I start by melting ~2T of lard. Once melted, I add 2c of white rice. Sometimes i use plain white, sometimes jasmine. I cook the rice in the lard on med- high heat till some gains start to get a bit of color. Then i...

    Instant Pot Burning Everything

So, following up. I went to town on the bottom of the pot with Bar Keeper's Friend and a scotchbrite pad and got it shining like new. Haven't had any issues since, but we also haven't made anything thick or with tomatoes.

    CPAP Advice

This is where I'm at now. ~1 year without one and now I have to get used to wearing the mask again. I tried the nasal pillow so I could sleep on my side and ended up just blowing all the air out of my mouth even with a chin strap. Back to the full face, and it blows air in my eyes everytime I...
