My neighbor does. I used to foil mine. But I usually bump up the temp to 400 for about 15 min after a couple cooks. Let cool and brush it off.
Once in a while I'll hit em with the power washer.
I use the expanding tube, think it's 12" collapsed, and 18" expanded. Lasts about 8hrs. Not sure how much it holds, but a 40# bag would last a long time. I've got a pellet grill, so I'm not to concerned abou how much the tube uses. Only time I use it in my stick burner is for cold smoking...
I aslo looked hard at a SF. The 18 month ,at the time, was just too long for me. My bubbs grill 250 with the rib box was in my driveway in 3 weeks.
Fantastic smoker. Easy to use and puts out great Q
We buy our pellets by the ton. I store them in my shed. However, mice, and other critters REALLY like the apple, and cherry pellets. They've gotten into my hickory pellets during the colder months. I now have several large rubber garbage cans I line with a heave duty contractor garbage bags. I...
Don't worry about if your set temp is off from the grate temp. Just adjust according.
It's what I do with my pellet pooper. The higher I set mine, the farther it's off.
I also use a amazin tube smoker for additional smoke flavor. I also start most of my smokes
at the lowest temp for a hr or...
I agree. The several months it was down hurt PH to the point where I don't believe it will be profitable. The damage is done. The owner never posts, and the only info from him comes from the mod.
PF has grown, and continues to do so. I definitely spend more time on PF.
Pellet heads is back up and running, but it's definitely very slow. Only a handful of people contributing to the forum.
There's a couple moderators that are on all the time, one is "low slow joe" or something like that. I suggest sending him a PM.
The biggest draw to PH for me is the vast...
Had mine for about 3 yrs now. Gets used constantly. It has it's quirks, but I know the unit so well, they don't bother me.
Yes, I'd buy another one tomorrow if this one was ever unfixable.
And your experiencing what many have with their pellet grill. Lack of smoke flavor.
I did two things to add to my smoke profile.
First, I use only lumberjack 100% hickory hardwood pellets. Some pellets are 100% hardwood, but are 60% base flavor and 40% flavor wood. The 100% flavor wood pellets...
I've cold smoked bellies with stevia. Haven't used the brand u posted, but can't see why it wouldn't work.
Never smoked salmon, so please let me know how it turns out.
The last batch I made I used
1 tablespoon cure#1, for each gal of water.
1/2 cup sea salt
1/2 cup stevia. (Yes powered).
I'm a sauce pan bring a cup or two of water and 1/3 cup pickling spices to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool. This release the oils and flavors from the pickling spices...
Which size tube do you have?
I've got the expanding tube. (12" - 18"). And get a good 8 hrs of smoke. I use it in my masterbuilt gasser with the mailbox mod when cold smoking.
I've got a masterbuilt propane with lots of mods. A GMG pellet smoker, and a reverse flow stick burner. I've made fantastic Q with all 3.
My GMG does 90% of the smoking. Fill the hopper, turn it on, set my temp, and i can go inside and do other things.
I do use the tube for added smoke...
Ah... Now I see it. Looking quick it looked like the lip of the lid over the CC.
I get very little ash above the drip trays.
Is your grill a WiFi unit? The first thing they will check is what firmware your running.
I love my GMG DB. Puts out some amazing Q. The ash your getting outside the grill doesn't seem right. Never had that happen on mine. I also use a a-maz-n tube for all my cooks. It comes close to my SB, but not quite.
