    wet ashes & rust

went to look at a used horizon smoker yesterday. I took my welding chipping hammer along & i'm glad I did. the firebox was full of really wet ashes. I removed what was left of the grate which was buried in the ashes, moved some ashes aside & gave the bottom a few raps with the pointed end of the...

depending on where you are located the shipping cost can be as much as 1/2 the cost of the smoker. check with makers & see if they have a dealer near you. if you are near a bass pro they carry horizon smokers which are built by an ex Oklahoma joe employee & well made. also if you are not in a...

I used charcoal & large chunks of hickory & mesquite chips in a smoker box. all the flavoring wood was soaked overnight & I used the water the chips soaked in...

    opinions on this smoker

this is custom made & about the same size as the yoder Cheyenne & ok. joe highland. what i'm wondering is how the stack being mounted on the lid might work. it's not mine, i'm still kicking the tires. also-do these offsets use a lot of wood/charcoal??

    weber performer w/cajun bandit ext.

my heavy gauge 20" pizza pan & the maverick 732  thermometer arrived so I fired it up again. this was a small short smoke so I only filled the charcoal ring about one third. with a proper heat diffuser & having a good read on the grill temperature the food came out great. oklahoma joe smoker vs old country pecos

I went back to lowes & kicked the ok. joes tires & took a good look at everything they had. one lesson is take notes. the ok joe is 3/32" metal not 3/16" like I posted above. something stood out though. looking at the ok joe longhorn I can see that the metal gauge, components, welds, fit...
