I've used nothing but Kingsford briqs for decades. But I'm changing to RO. Thanks
for the recommendation.
But I really like these. This 4 lb bag was about $5-$6 so it ain't cheap
Hawg, it's Greer's Cash Saver. They have a couple of dozen stores in Alabama and some in Mississippi and Florida. I make groceries at the store in Poplarville, MS.
Thanks Ray, and thank you for your service. My son did 6 yrs in the Navy, 2 deployments to the Persian Gulf.
My rub is low in salt...

Oh yea, they're good; bred, hatched, raised, and processed in the USA.
I get 13 or 14 qtrs in a 10 lb bag, so there a nice size.
Every once in a while I'll get a thigh with 2 legs though. :emoji_wink:
Big Labor Day sale on chicken qtrs this weekend, 45 cents/lb.
I was thinking of buying 2 bags / 20 lbs / about 25 - 28 qtrs.
I want to brine all of them for 2 hrs, pat dry and season, then
freeze them - 7 or 8 per bag. I'll use them all between now
and Thanksgiving in several different dishes...
Growing up in SE La I can appreciate the work that went into catching that hamper of crabs. Down here we boil em in crab boil. I've never eaten steamers but they do look delicious, and the left over meat, I am so jealous.
I would have to say that's ingenious.
Quick, get a patent. I've seen crazier
things go on sale as "add ons" in the
past. You may think me crazy! lol
But just imagine your mod in all S.S.
and in different sizes to fit currently
available barrel smokers on the market.
I'd buy one in a...
No worries, didn't take it the wrong way at all.
That comment about "tasting better than they looked" came
from a family member and I had to agree with them. lol
Thanks. I stayed close to the smoker the whole time because the umbrella was bungeed down to the tank. I wouldn't recommend this unless you plan on staying close to the rig during the entire smoking time. Too many ugly things can happen if a gust of wind blows that umbrella over taking the tank...
I put those 3 breasts on the top rack with the pieces of sausage. I watched I.T. on those closely and removed at 160. When I stuck the therm. in plenty clear juice came flowing out the hole. Me and most of the family like the leg qtrs. but the white meat eaters in the family said they were...
That's just a big beach umbrella, tank is in a milk crate.
Umbrella pole fits nicely into either corner of crate closest to smoker. It was big enough to keep all but the legs from
wet, kept me dry while adding wood, ect.
You may be able to find a cover that will fit over your Char-Griller, one that drops all around to ground level. I've seen generic covers in various sizes at Home Depot, Amazon may have some. Granted you may not find an exact fit, it might help.
5 lbs of boiled crawfish as an appetizer, a cup of turtle soup, a bowl of chicken/andouille gumbo, fried red fish, and for dessert a big slice of hot pecan pie with a tall glass of ice cold milk and a big scoop of Blue Belle Homemade Vanilla ice cream on the side.
Last night I posted a "Quick Question" about brining. Thanks to all who responded. My question was answered.
I brined 13 leg qtrs (skin loosened up) and 3 breasts skinless, for 2 hrs 15 min. in refrig.
Brine Recipe (nothing exotic)
1 gal water
1 cup reg table salt - Morton's
3/4 cup brown...
Thanks Richie
I'll take them out of the brine in 30 min.,
pat dry, then put on some dry rub. Should
I cover container or leave the lid off? And
what would the difference be after they are
smoked?
And most of all, Thank you for your service!
Mike
