Just started my 250 gal. center fired RF build
17 inch doors will be plenty. But the 89" length will be a bear to open, you might want to cut 2 doors in that so you have an easier time opening them. Post some pictures as you go...- 2bears

Please define "reverse flow"
Yes the plate needs to touch the sides and most weld it in solid so no heat gets through until it reaches the end where you are 6" from the end of the cooker.- 2bears

I measured the RF plate where it ends to the end of the tank in the domed end and it is at 9" and is over half way between the weld seam and the end of the tank. I know some set the end about 6" or so. I too think that it should be at least the size of the fire box opening or larger as you...- 2bears

I like the pre-load on the doors. The only concern I would have with that is going down the road will doors open from rough roads? Maybe a door latch to hold it down? Looks like your moving right along on the build.- 2bears

Time will tell if it is big enough. The guy that helped me build this has two 500 gallon tanks and he uses them almost every week end and his box is 27" tall by 20" wide and round without any issues, mine is 20" tall by 28" wide.
