You can adjust the auger right in the app. I have the 680 which is similar to the 700.

NOOB Pellet Smoker question re: temp control when it's hot outside

What smoker do you have? Some are adjustable. I lower my auger's minimum feed rate in the summer.

Interesting that you got some flavor out of the PB Hickory, I didn't get much at all. I believe they blend it with maple. I also don't get temp swings from LJ 100% hickory.

Eastwood 22 vs Lil Tex Elite 22 vs other

Most pellet smokers have the same basic components. Auger, fan, controller, ignitor. Some have better controllers, some have wifi and some have thicker steel or stainless. Nothing wrong with a basic and simple smoker but Traeger should price theirs accordingly.

Rec Tec Paint Bubble - Only 4 months old

All those American made pellet pit companies started out as metal fabricators first and started making pits as a side business. Pretty tough to start up a company that only manufactures pellet pits in the US. Lots of startup capital required. I don’t think RecTec is quite up to par with the...

They tell you to do a 1 hour burn in. Not with oil though. The 680 is powder coated. It’s always possible it wasn’t applied properly at the factory.
