Needing some info before beginning start on my build

Why not fire rope? Just out of curiosity. Nomex is good stuff though. I've seen people use that on their webers and MES and what not. I think the Roxul contains formaldehyde as a stabilizer & preservative (don't know for sure), but if I remember correctly someone on here once contacted them...

Needing some info before beginning start on my build

We are in the same boat it sounds like. I have been read everything I could on electrifying these fridges. I ordered a Brinkmann element & Auber PID yesterday & pick up my fridge tomorrow. Looking back on it, I kinda wish I would've bought the finned strip heater, but couldn't justify double or...

    Quick Question Bout Dimensions

I am in the process of looking for a fridge to do a build. My dilemma is this... I would like to be able to put a full rack of ribs in without cutting them. I found a fridge that is 18" wide & 16" deep. It has been awhile since I did Ribs. Is 18" wide enough to fit "most" full racks into...

What heating element did you end up using? Can you provide a link? Also, do you use a PID controller? Great build! Trevor

    Need help on dimensions

Hey everyone, Just wanted to pick your brains. I plan on doing a fridge smoker build and looking for a fridge. I found one, but the interior dimensions are only: 18"w x 16"d x 36 H  I'm mainly worried about the width, could I get a whole rack of baby backs to fit width wise? I know it kind of...

    Help with Maverick Alarms

Yea, i was really PO'd when I got it after all the recommendations because in temps below 100 it was off anywhere between 5-10 degrees F. I almost returned it when I thought I should try it in hot (since thats what we bought it for right?). So I tried it in boiling water and both were spot on...

    Help with Maverick Alarms

Yea everything was set right. It was user error (i think) haven't smoked since the post but i think in the directions it said something about pressing a set of buttons to activate the alarm. I just set then and didn't "activate" it. Next time i smoke I will shoot an update here. Thanks

    Help with Maverick Alarms

I got my 733 a few weeks ago and love it! Little cumbersome to use but once you get the manual next to you it is easy. So I used it for the first "real" bbq yesterday. After bout an hour smoking I look down at it & it says 250 degrees but my alarms were set to 215-235... What gives? No sounds...

    Pork shoulder vs Pork butt?

I suppose I could see where you are coming from. I don't think though he is saying you can't cold smoke, but merely saying if you are going to cold smoke MEATS make sure you know what the hell you are doing haha and because of the risks he isn't going to give tips. Which from a liability...

    Smoking on a Ketlle BBQ

Paul, I just went through the same predicament you are in. I researched for awhile before I decided what to do, this is what I've learned. Smoking with a Weber is FREAKING easy! It all depends on budget. If your budget is: $15 - go pick up some KBB on sale w/ some wood and use the "Snake...

    Pork shoulder vs Pork butt?

Oh really? I have never heard anyone say that before. I mean I know techniques, recipes, & general opinions will vary, but the science & technical info all seemed spot on. What have you found that wasn't correct?

Sold the MES 30 & Bought a Weber Kettle

I know kamado fans are really loyal & I can't argue with you since I never used one, but i had to sell the MES in order to go the Weber route. See my Chief Financial Officer says I have too many hobbies between wine making, distilling, fishing, photography, etc... It can get kind of expensive...
