Should I bite the bullet for a PID?

Welp, after further thought, consideration, along with reading your post, I pulled the trigger. I’m just too particular about having things just right. Plus it’s just fun to tinker with stuff. Thanks for the help everyone!

Should I bite the bullet for a PID?

Thanks this helps a lot. I should have better noted the temps, but didn't. If I recall, the swings were in that 15deg ballpark. On sunday, I will be smoking some meat and plan to make better note. For now I will hold off on the PID since I don't plan to get super serious with recipes that...

Should I bite the bullet for a PID?

Just got done running the smoker for a couple hours to watch temps. Set it as 240 and it seemed like the temp on the MES swung way above and below that while I had probes on the second to top rack and they seemed to differ quite a bit from the MES temps. Looks like my temp probe is just below...

Should I bite the bullet for a PID?

Had a Smoke Hollow 30” propane smoker for the past few months and got tired of jacking with it. Snagged a MES40 gen1 on a sale and think I’m really going to like it. Currently using a A-maze-n tube for smoke, so it got that covered. After reading all about everyone’s experiences with a PID, it...

The history of the AMNPS and why you need one.

Following up on the last few posts I made. Since then, I got fed up with the propane smoker. It was always something and I couldn't trust to take my eyes off it for too long. That said, I was able to sell the propane smoker for what I paid for it (got it on a good sale anyway). I then snagged a...

The history of the AMNPS and why you need one.

Well it turned out great! Practiced on some chicken breast last friday then went "all-in" on two briskets saturday. Tried to use a small water pan to keep some moisture in the smoker for the brisket, but had trouble keeping the tube lit. Didn't want to have to worry about it, so I removed the...

The history of the AMNPS and why you need one.

Well you were right! USPS came through. My package arrived today. Didn’t get a chance to lite up the tube, but rigged up a slick little system to hang it inside my box. Used two hose clamps. Left them loose so I can slide the tube in and out to fill and light. Think that will work?

Definitely not knocking USPS. They have served me well also. Mainly just saying that I am anxiously excited that the package arrives before the weekend. Based on the latest tracking, I think it will!

    Mailbox Mod Issues

Any update on your changes? I have this exact same smoker and just purchased an AMNTS. Wondering if I should add the mailbox or not.

Appreciated. I'll report back once I get it all going this weekend (hopefully USPS ships quick!).

Thanks! Looks like the AMNTS already shipped! Planning to utilize it with in a Smoke Hollow 30in gas smoker I recently purchased. Unfortunately I purchased and used the smoker prior to finding this site, or I would have purchased an electric. Oh well... Going to give this a shot and make the...

The history of the AMNPS and why you need one.

New to the forum and stumbled upon this post. Been shopping these hard lately and this helped me tremendously. Went with a 12" tube bought straight from the A-Maze-N Website. Can't wait for it to arrive!
