I haven't used either one, but have read a few issues with the inside of the Gen2 not being as durable as the stainless steel on the Gen1. Personally I just prefer stainless steel. There's areason why commercial kitchens are stainless steel.- gathumper

Thanks so much for all the replies! Money is definately an object for me as well, so that's how Cookshack got eliminated. I could MAYBE stretch into the $500-$1000 range, but no way can I justify over $1000 at this time in my life. I had originally planned to spend $300 for the 40" Masterbuilt...- gathumper

My First Electric Smoker - Masterbuilt 40" or Cookshack Clone?
Title sums it up well, but for a little more info, I've been smoking with charcoal on a 22" Weber Smokey Mountian for about 5 years now and have turned out some really good ribs, butts, brisket, turkey, etc. No complaints at all with the Weber and I'll likely continue to use it for these...- gathumper

Well, I just spoke to Masterbuilt again this morning to confirm that the Gen1 was all stainless inside and out and as you probably know, it is. However, the person I spoke with today told me that some retailers WILL have stainless inside the new 2015 "Bluetooth" model. I'm hoping this is the...- gathumper

New guy from Georgia here. Landed on this site when I decided I was going to get an electric smoker to compliment my 22" Weber Smokey Mountain.
