    Smoke Hollow PID mod

So my use for this would be primarily sausages and cold smoking. I have an offset for hot smoking. I just didn't wanna order a $150 PID and start opening up the innards of the unit before i consulted folks who would know. I have my offset configured to do sausage but I'd like to have a backup...

    Smoke Hollow PID mod

Gentlemen, I recently came into possession of a Smoke Hollow electric smoker for our favorite price of $Free.99. I know absolutely nothing about this unit as I've never used it or any other electric smoker but when given the opportunity at a free smoking rig, well, you don't leave the drugs...

    Enablers!

Appreciate everyone's kind words. Though I called you all enablers, I can't thank everyone on this forum enough. I am the type that really likes to make an informed purchase so I try and do as much research as possible. Being able to read the experiences and opinions of everyone here is...

    Enablers!

I am posting here to inform you smoking degenerates that you have, once again, enabled me to separate myself from my money. I just put in my order for a BellFab offset and I couldn't be more excited. Mr. Bell and I had a very nice talk as we discussed the things I wanted in my smoker. Notably...

    New to the game

Finally got everything hooked up today. Took me a while to figure out the PID stuff but once I figured it out, I was very pleased with the consistency. My PID sensor and probes are about 5-7 degrees apart, so I'll adjust for that on the PID. Other than that I'm extremely pleased. All the...

    New to the game

Wires came today and it's all together. My burner should be done at the welding shop by Monday and I'll be able to get this rig up and rolling for a test drive. Appreciate ya, Solman! Hopefully somebody will find this thread informative down the road. You've been a monumental help to me. Again I...

Beautiful. A simple fix. Amazon had those available with 1 day shipping so hopefully we're operational tomorrow afternoon.

So If I order those wires, strip them, then wire in to the two wires coming from the solenoid, I will be good? Is that what you mean by hacking it up? Using a wire nut to splice it in?

    New to the game

Alright, so all my parts came today and I have the solenoid, needle valve and safety shutoff rigged into one unit. Checked for leaks and it was clean. My question now, is how do I rig the PID to the solenoid? As far as I can tell it's the final piece of the puzzle. Everything else has gone smoothly.

Ordered. Awesome. Do you have a recommendation for the Auber units? They all say charcoal and I dont wanna get the wrong one.

Great points. My final question: How large are the two Male connections on the safety shutoff for your PID system? I dont see it listed on Amazon. I need it for the two barbed female pieces so I get the correct size.

Beautiful! Thank you. So if I'm understanding correctly, with the PID setup I'll need a GFCI outlet to use the smoker? Not a problem but that's what I was wondering about. Everything else is self explanatory

You make a very valid point. Now that I think about it I was more interested in it for the aesthetics rather than the functionality. I'm gonna go that right if I do at all. Appreciate the responses from you guys. Solman I may have some questions regarding the PID setup you put together. That...

I just wanna start off by saying that this forum is probably the best on the internet. Everyone is incredibly knowledgeable yet also non-judgmental and willing to help anyone. That kinda stuff matters in a world where folks can barely keep a conversation. Anyway, I got my Masterbuilt 2 door...

    How to handle natural casings

This thread is absolutely priceless. I had done only loose sausage before getting a stuffer this Christmas. The first time doing it, while only following the directions on package, was making me insane. Constant blowouts in the casings. I had to know why so I did a Google search and was brought...
