I have the 2nd gen MES 40. I did order the Amazon cover. It did in fact not fit. I took it to a car upholstery shop and had him split it all the way around on the long side , which would be the front, top, back. I had him sew in a piece to widen it 5". Fits now and looks good.

I see you wrapped it in wax paper or was it Saran wrap?
Was it wrapped when you put it in the smoker?
What temp did you use and how long did you smoke it?
I have the second generation of the mes 40. The dimension's of the original cover are 16 x 21. The sec gen need 16 x 25 to go all the way down and cover the chip loader!! I also took off the top bar!! I will take this to an upholstery shop and see if the can add a panel to the cover to allow...
We have all done it!! Go to you tube type in how to cut a brisket or on this forum go to the search box and type it in. good info. You will do well and when you cook one that good and cut it properly they will be all the more proud of your "smokin'"!!
Do not clean the walls unless some parts have food or grease on them.. That is the seasoning, you need it!! I pitis mucked up in the bottom grub it all out. If it is cooked on put some hot water in the pan and set temperature to about 275 and let it steam. should soften everything, then clean...
