First of all, thanks for sharing the recipe, Nepas. I plan on trying this out over the weekend. This will be my first time making jerky, so a few newbie questions if y'all don't mind:
I purchased an EOR that I am slicing about a quarter of an inch thick across the grain.
I don't have one of...
Nope. I put a good analog oven therm in the box and it is registering close the food probe.
I think Todd sells replacement probes. Time to order more pellets, anyway.
Thanks, Al
I have some teriyaki snack sticks going and when I turned on my Maverick, the barbecue probe is registering 289. The food probe is registering 93. The food probe is not touching anything (just hanging in the box).
I have replaced the batteries in both sending and receiving units.
Any ideas...
No apologies needed. I was concerned about sounding like a whiner. Sorry to hear of your difficulties. It doesn't always go the way that we hope.
I would've stuffed it using my Kitchenaid, but I'd still be stuffing now.
Ordered metal gears from LEM. Wish me luck.
Thanks, Mossy.
It looks like it will work. Not sure of the handle will fit properly but I'll give It a try. They should be here just in time for the weekend.
Five pounds of snack sticks, five pounds of hot dogs, seven pounds of sausage Tiranno, five pounds of fresh garlic sausage and two pounds of chorizo all ground up and mixed this morning.
I was going to smoke this weekend. It was supposed to be all mine.
Two pounds into the sausage Tiranno...
He didn't mention anything about jerky seasoning. If it is in good condition, $125 is fair. Many times, I've looked at something on Craigslist and the item was totally misrepresented in the add.
There is one of these on Craigslist right now for $125. The seller states that it has only been used once and it is less than a year old.
I already emailed him that I will take it because it sounds like a good deal. Is it?
I'm afraid that my stick burner won't be able to keep up with the cold...
Fine looking bacon, Craig. You've inspired me.
I just phoned my, "connection" and bellies will be ready tomorrow morning.
A good excuse to test out the new AMNPS, too.
I got home from work today to find my new AMNPS at the front door.
I wasn't surprised that it arrived in two days.
I wasn't surprised at the quality of the product that was inside.
I WAS surprised to find a note from Todd that there was extra room in the box and that he included a 2LB bag of...
Thanks again, guys!
I'll be making a couple changes to the recipe and will certainly smoke at a lower temperature next time. But, it was a successful experiment.
I need to learn to utilize the space in the smokebox more effectively. 15 pounds took up all a lot of room and many of the links...
