    My first smoker build

Thanks man. I appreciate the feed back. I've been to Feldons calculator before but I didn't notice that calculation on there. I'll take another look since that's what I've based my numbers on so far.

Thanks jweller. I'm sure if I research enough I could figure it out but what you say makes sense so I'll just go with that.

Looking good man. I enjoy watching this build because I'm building one right now myself pretty similar to yours.

    My first smoker build

Got my door finished, the rf plate supports, and the frame for my cooking grate done today. Put a fire in it to burn out that diesel smell. Hopefully it worked. I'll let you know tomorrow with pictures of the work I finished today. Still need to figure out what distance I need to leave at the...

    Gasket seal problems

Yeah, I have a plasma. I do welding on the side so I have a lot of tools and equipment. I'm usually pretty slow in the winter so this is something to keep me busy. I like how you did your door flange on the cc. Something for me to keep in mind when I do my next one.

That's awesome. I wish I had a lathe to do stuff like that. Is that wood colored like that naturally? Thanks for the input. I feel a lot better now that I know I'm not wasting my time with my cook chamber. I'm also encouraged to see you used that tank because I have that exact style tank on...

I should've specified who I was talking to since I posted directly after your pics so I can understand the confusion. Your smoker is awesome as well.

    Gasket seal problems

Actually Gary I think you've been to my build thread in the reverse flow smoker build forums. I'm building one similar to rweidner so I was asking about his tank thickness. I'm always happy to see pics though.

    Gasket seal problems

This might be a stupid question but how did you insulate it? I'm pretty new to all of this and I'm in the middle of my first build. You should click on my pic and check it out.

    Gasket seal problems

Cool looking build man. Is your cook chamber walls 1/8" thick? I'm building a reverse flow myself with 1/8" cook chamber and was kind of worried about heat retention since it's a little thinner than recommended. Can you hold your temp pretty steady?

It's about 6" I think from the top of my FB to CC opening to the bottom lip of the door.

Got the hinges on and the door is working! I've still got some tweaking to do but it's coming along. Any ideas from anyone on cook chamber placement height and rf plate height?

    My first smoker build

Started cutting the door out today. The door stayed pretty rigid but the rest of the tank is a little flimsy. Hopefully when I weld in the rf plate and the cook grate supports it will remedy my problem. I'm really worried about the thickness of this tank. I hope I'm not doing all of this work...
