    Thanksgiving-the bird wasn't stuffed-but I sure am! Lots of Q-View!!

Great job! I wish I had thought about taking pics of the meal. I only took a couple of pics of the turkey on the grill just before taking it up.

    A hardy hello from Mississippi!

Well, I'll have to say that the smoked turkey was the best I've ever had! The skin was a lot like leather, but it sure did the job and held in the moisture. I hate to brag on my own efforts but I was very proud of the way it turned out. I soaked in a brine solution for about 3.5 days, injected...

I knew there had a be a homebrew portion to a "Smoking" forum!

It's from grapes. I purchased the steam juicer (best $100 I ever spent) and go from there with different kinds of fruits, or buy juice from the super market and make it from that. I haven't done a kit yet.

    A hardy hello from Mississippi!

I just finished my first turkey. I hope it tastes as good as it looks. I can see it exploding like the one on The Griswold's Christmas.

    Pear tree wood

I just cut down my pear tree. I've got it cut into logs at the moment but will be cutting it into small pieces and splitting. I've also got a peach tree that I'll be cutting down some time during the spring. I'll be doing that wood the same way. Love this forum!

    Why no wine making forum

I'm with you, Scotty! I love making my own wine. I would post some pics but I'm not allowed, yet. Not sure how many posts I have before they turn that on.

I knew there had a be a homebrew portion to a "Smoking" forum!

Home brew is another hobby I have and love. It's like smoking meat; the process is interesting, but the results are more than satisfying! I don't like any beer, but I love my homemade wine, and keep some fermenting all the time for the wife, family and friends.

    A hardy hello from Mississippi!

Found this site a couple of weeks ago. Just got interested in smoking meats and want to learn all I can. I have a next door neighbor with a great deal of experience, and I turn to that experience often, but what can I say.... I love forums and meeting new friends in the sites that elevate...

Brining a bone-in turkey breast -- How long is too long?

This is what I wanted to read! I put my 14# bird in a brining solution of 1 cup Kosher Salt to about 1.5 gals water with other spices like garlic powder and onion powder. I left it about 3 days before taking it out, rubbing it down, and shooting it up with some of my homemade Niagara wine. I...
