Looks similar to the one I am building now. I am going with double doors on the firebox, its more preference when it comes to how you want to do your doors. Looks like a great start.

At 30$ it sounds good. But I don't want it to be a pain in the butt. Not really worried about the welding but the food junk collecting on it I could see it being a pain now that you mention it
I found some stainless mesh on Craigslist. Looks like 1/4" spacing. Do you think I can make it work for grates? I know I will have to brace it so it doesn't sag.
