New 1951 GE Fridge build looking for advice

Your fridge looks almost identical to mine and the interior of mine was all porcelain coated steel. I've been using if for 1.5 yrs and no illnesses yet, LOL! I went with scavenged parts from an oven, works awesome. There is way more heat there than I need but the controller does a good job at...

    New Fridge Build.

+1 on this!! My wife thought I was nuts, once I had it finished and painted she was bragging to her friends and family about "our new smoker"...LOL! I'm ok with it cause it just means I get to do something I love, smoke meat!

    Fridge Heat?

I painted mine with some cheap tractor paint from the local farm store. Not high temp paint. taped off all the edges around the door so it wouldn't get paint inside. Been using it for almost a year and have no problems with the paint. Had it up to over 350 when I burned it out and no paint...

What kind of smoker is this?

Initially I thought it was a CharGriller Duo that had been modified but they have 2 separate cooking chambers one is for gas grilling. Not sure but it looks pretty well built.

    Trying a fridge smoker.

Trevdog, I'm not sure if you're still following this thread but I just stumbled across it. This spring I converted an old GE fridge into a real nice smoker. I used a 2500-3000 Watt broiler element from an old range. It works great. I didn't use a PID I instead used the oven control board from...

    Propane or Wood?

Since I'm an electric smoker user, I had to chime in. Don't count out the electric smokers. I think of all the smokers they are the easiest to use. And the price of an El Cheapo Brinkmann (ECB) makes it a definite candidate for you. Not much easier than plugging it into a wall outlet and adding...

Here's My Fridge Build: Mid build

I'm not sure this qualifies as a Qview because I don't have any pictures of my prep but I do have cooking and final product pics. It sure was tasty!! The smoker performed great! Thanks to all who followed my build and give me advice. That's a good ole BBQ meal, smoked ribs, baked...

Well its all done!! And here's some pics!! Got all the ugly gray and white paint off the emblem and look at that...chrome!! The oil I sprayed the inside with burned when is got close to the element. Close up of the oven controller. It seems like I need to run the temp at about...
