If I was willing to spend 3k I would buy a Pitts and Spits, Mak, or Outlaw. I'm sure the RecTec is a decent piece of equipment but I don't think it's in the same ball park as the others which is reflected in the price. I have a Weber Smokefire myself and love it but it's more of a middle of the...
Congrats on your new smoker. I went all in and did a brisket on my recently acquired Bell Fab smoker. Turned out really good. The temp got away from me briefly at the beginning but once I had everything dialed in it held at the temp I wanted. Really happy with the smoker and agree for the money...
My first smoker was a WSM I bought well over 10 years ago. I still have it and use it occasionally. It works well and is pretty easy to figure out. I also love my Weber Performer kettle which I use all the time. A combo of a kettle and a WSM would pretty much do anything you needed them to do...
I hate severe weather. I'll take the blizzard we had a couple of weeks ago any day. Our severe weather season usually starts in late May and lasts through August. I've had to deal with hail damage several times in the last few years.
I don't think I would wait in the line although I'm sure it's great. I was born in Texas and grew up in KC so have been to a lot of good bbq places that were busy but no multiple hour lines..... no thanks. I was in Charleston SC a couple of years ago and went to Lewis BBQ. John Lewis worked with...
I got rid of my gas grill shortly after acquiring my Smokefire. I did pick up a Blackstone which I converted to natural gas. Definitely use both during the week for quick dinners etc.
Check out the Grilla Grills Silverback. It's made out of a lot of stainless steel and insulated well for cold weather. They are out of Michigan so I think cold weather was a consideration in their design. I had one and didn't have any complaints other than lack of smoke flavor which is common...
Picked up my Bell Fabrication offset a couple of days ago. My original plan was to have it shipped but with all the crazy weather it likely would have taken longer than I wanted to wait. I drove down from Colorado on Thursday spent the night and picked it up the next morning. The Uhaul 5x9...
I use a lot of Lumberjack and have also used Bear Mountain both are great and reasonably priced. Another option if you can catch them on sale at Lowes are the Weber Smokefire pellets. I think they are just rebranded Lumberjack, but Lowes clears them out in the winter for around 8 bucks a bag...
i've had my Blackstone for a few months it is an awesome piece of equipment. I did the natural gas conversation it's definitely my go to in the middle of the week.
Came across this forum while doing some research on a Bell Fabrication offset. I've used a WSM for years and more recently a pellet cooker and PK360. Decided I was ready to play with an offset. Liked the info I was able to find on Bell and it seems like a lot of smoker for the money. Hoping to...
