FInished Mod's to my WSM and smoked Beef Short Ribs

Thank you SmokinAl and b-one, I appreciate the comments. The mod's work great, and the ribs tasted really good too. Yum!!! Also I forgot to mention in the original post that I used Lazzari Mesquite hardwood lump charcoal and Hickory wood chunks to smoke my short ribs with.

FInished Mod's to my WSM and smoked Beef Short Ribs

Hello every one in "WSM (WEBER SMOKEY MOUNTAIN) land! I posted some time ago about modifications to my WSM. Well I pimped my WSM out with custom made wood handles on the lid, which I made myself. I also put a side table on it, and a handle on the center section, and both were purchased from "...

Love Everything About My WSM, But ...

What size is your WSM? I have a 22.5 and have had very little trouble with my grill grates fitting, but I have a good friend who has a 18.5 and his grates fit really loosely. However we( him and I) bent the metal tabs that hold the grates up in the smoker body so that the grates and water...

Is the Cajun Bandit pimp kit or dress up kit for the WSM a good upgrade?

Hello JIRodriguez, I have for the most part been running mine bone stock out of the box for the last 3 1/2 yrs with the exception of the felt gasket for the lid and side door( the bottom to center does not need gasket), and one eyelet for temp. probe. I just recently added wheels with casters...

Is the Cajun Bandit pimp kit or dress up kit for the WSM a good upgrade?

Thank you Drewed and you too SmokinAl, What I am getting here is that the Cajun Bandit dress up kits are nice bling, but as far as increasing functionality not worth the money.

Is the Cajun Bandit pimp kit or dress up kit for the WSM a good upgrade?

Thank you SmokinAl, I guess I should have told every body what other modifications I have already done to my WSM. I have put  wheels with casters on the bottom section ,and I am in the process of putting some custom handles on both the lid and center sections ,with hooks for tools on the center...

Is the Cajun Bandit pimp kit or dress up kit for the WSM a good upgrade?

Hello everyone, I am considering doing some upgrades to my WSM, and have read a lot about the Cajun Bandit products for the WSM. I know the stainless door with SouthCo latch is a good upgrade( almost a must do), but is the Cajun Bandit high airflow charcoal ring a worthwhile expense? I realize...

Has Anyone Tried Using Hard Wood Pellets Instead of Wood Chips or Chunks?

Thank you to everyone who has responded. I decided to go ahead and try pellets instead of wood chunks or chips. I found that the pellets do burn really fast, and they also spike the temperature in the smoker too. The pellets burned extremely hot!!! Even with dampening everything down it was hard...

The function or funtions of the water pan in the "WSM".

No offences taken here falconNorthFL and timberjet. I agree with the gravel, sand, kitty litter, lava rock, ceramic briquettes, or what ever non toxic non flammable substance you would like to put in the water pan, because there again you are using it as a thermal heat sink to hold and...

The function or funtions of the water pan in the "WSM".

Yes you're all right!! The water pan will and does hold heat even when the coals are burned out, hence it acts as a thermal heat sink.. Also in the colder climates such as the north west or north east you may find that to be extremely beneficial to your cook. You can save fuel ( charcoal), and...
