I was actually thinking about installing a plate , vertically, coming down from the top of the CC about the same point as the end of the reverse plate, reaching down to about the same height as the upper rack, That should keep the air from flowing to the top of the CC and flowing along the top...
I am thinking about some new ideals for the far end of the reverse flow pan, that is for when i have time to get back to building
Heat is not even top to bottom, with the upper rack getting hotter and producing a darker color to the food. I want to experiment with redirecting that heat back...
I'm on Boyette Rd in Riverview, please stop by.
But to wrap up the smoker build, I'd say this is about as perfect a smoker as you can get. Especially the self cleaning firebox. It's ran nonstop since Tuesday 6am with nothing other than throwing a split on about once an hour. Temps are with in...
Thanks everyone for the kind words, and I apologize for not keeping up with everything and everyone on here right now,...it's just been very busy and I've totally did a 180 with my life right now.
Business has been crazy the four days I've been open, with only one slow day ( only 10 customers)...
Yeah, the few I did that we're made like that tries to "hour glass " on me. I took some 1" angle and tacked in on like I mentioned to hold it all in place. The reverse flow plate will keep the bottom of your door opening from pulling in once you get it welded in.
Believe it or not...it pulled very well. Even backing it up is not bad since you have a good view of the cc in your rear view window. I have no light nor tag on it and a cop followed me for two miles and then turned off. I should have new gauges tomorrow and will cook some food on it next week...
I'd skip the firebrick, honestly.
If you wanted to insulate the firebox, check out the builds where they use rock wool. I'm in Florida, and a double plate with air gap works just fine for me. And plenty of people are happy with just single layer plate.
Yeah, it's an odd size, but I wouldn't mind having a few of them.
One word of advise since your seam is dead center, scab some angle onto the tank in four places, above and below each horizontal cut for your door. This style tends to suck in instead of bow out like the ones with end caps,.
I just threw together a quick cooker from scrap with no shop set up yet ( just moved) I took a sheet of 1/4" plate to my local steel supplier, walked in and asked the guy operating the shear if he drank beer......his reply was " well, yeah, why", ....I asked what kind,.."bud light"......I ask...
I've thought about rounding the end of the pipe and think it would work well. Capping it is easy, just tack weld it at the top and heat as you go as you bend and tack it evenly on both sides. I'd go with a larger radius than the pipe so as you don't have so much taper to blend in at the top and...
