Any of you guys/gals have any ideas on how I can keep the cooking chamber doors/lids open? I usually prop them open with a stick or whatever but I end up hitting it and then the lid comes crashin down on my hands. Plus when you prop them open it gets in the way... I usually good at thinkin up...
Hey DonO, what did you use for your burn barrel? Looks like a pony keg or somthin. Also is yours all stainless steel and whats a canadian tire smoker?
Yeah, I feel stupid crankin this big old thing up for just 3 racks of ribs! I usually end up smokin more than we can eat then I take it to work...
Hey MotorHedd, You brought up a really important and overlooked subject about the Personal Safety Equipment! Watch out with those torches also they can be real dangerous! I have a few horror stories of my own that I won't bore everyone with! Let's see the pics Smoknrookie...
Thanks PigCicles, cman95 (Wayne) and smokin365... Here are some pics of the country ribs & chicken that came off it.
Not the best lookin presentation but you get the idea.
This ain't a WSM but it werx pretty dern good I gotta say!!! I have some country ribs on it right now Holding right at 235 and I haven't had to touch it since I put them in! I will post some pics when they are done...
This will probably piss off the die hard Orion crowd but I like a smoke ring in my meat when I smoke! I modified the cooker to be a WSM/UDS and it seems to be kickin some @$$! Don't get me wrong I like the Orion for what it is but I wanted an option so I created this mod. I like the way the...
Ok I have another idea I am gonna put a 4 rack motor drivin rotisserie in the left side of my smoker. It will be removable so I will be able to throw the regular grates back in. More pics to come... Any ideas on this are welcome!
Good point crewdawg, but I would probably throw the welding blanket over the top barrel to keep the temps in the cooking barrel. That is where you are gonna loose alot of the heat. Just put alot of fire bricks in the bottom, you can stack'em half way up the sides.
Looks like fun MotorHedd! These things really cook great, you will be very happy with it! Question: How are you planning to make the doors? Looking forward to see what you come up with!
Yeah, but it looks like those stacks are pretty small in diameter so it shouldn't be to much of a problem. The whole thing looks like it will hold temps real well! I am curious as to how the fire box is setup? I see the top side lid there, it looks like you can do some direct heat grilling also?
It looks like you have 2 stacks, one on the center box and one at the far end from the burn box so I don't think you will have a problem getting it up to temp it should draft the heat/smoke all the way across the smoker without a problem. Sounds like you have a pretty good idea of how these...
Well first of it looks similar to the design of this pit except for the fire box is on the other side and the one you found has a trailer. The one you found seems to be built much more heavy duty than this one which sells for I believe around $4000.00.
I can't say for sure because I can't...
Hey Steve, can you make one that looks like a slot machine and when you hit the jackpot the grate drops down and all the Q drops on your serving plate? LOL I Love it! Great job... very unique little reverse flow!
Dude, that is a diamond in the rough! Get it... Plus you will take more pride in it if you fix it up yourself! Does it come with the 55 gallon drum also LOL? I love the setup on that beast, go get it!
