New Guy and this will be my 1st Reverse Flow Smoker Build

Now I'm really confused DaveOmak. Is the Radius I'm putting into this calculator my tank (cc) radius or 1/2 my firebox width?

[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:OfficeDocumentSettings> <o:AllowPNG/> </o:OfficeDocumentSettings></xml><![endif] So these are my calculations with my firebox at 100%. Link to BBQ Pit Calculator I multiply 153.99 X 1.5 = 230.985. This is the opening I need from the firebox to the CC and also the ...

New Guy and this will be my 1st Reverse Flow Smoker Build

While I'm on a roll with getting answers to my questions, my plan is a 27 X 27 X 27 firebox per Feldons. Is that assuming the wood is on the floor of the box or should I add to the box and keep those dimensions above the grate?

Where do I find the area under the RF plate. Would it be the same distance (even with the top of firebox) as my half moon cut out in the end of my firebox?

New Guy and this will be my 1st Reverse Flow Smoker Build

I've been reading about a lot of the builds while gathering info for my own build and keep seeing the same thing over and over about the Feldons Calculator being off if your building a reverse flow. Seems the Recommended Firebox-to-Cooker Opening Area needs to be 1.5% larger than the Recommended...

New Guy and this will be my 1st Reverse Flow Smoker Build

So, thanks to DaveOmak  and Phat Rico  for making me think about this before I jumped in over my head, and after plugging the 3 possible sizes of my tank (30 X 87, 250 gal, and 200 gal) into Feldons, I've decided based on the figures that my tank is a 250 gallon and not a 200. I've been told to...

My 1st attempt at a Reverse Flow

I plan to build a reverse flow smoker from what appears to be a 200 gallon propane tank. The tank is 30" dia. X 87" long. I did the calculations on Feldons using both 200 gallon tank size and 30 X 87 cylinder. There appears to be quite a bit of difference in cooking chamber sizes and recommended...

Thanks for the reply. Guess I'll treat it as a 200 gallon and get my calculations. No, I don't plan to buy any plans from the web site. I plan to get as much info as I can from the forum. I'd rather get 1st hand advice on what does and does not work.

New Guy and this will be my 1st Reverse Flow Smoker Build

Well, I'm at a standstill with my calculations. On Feldon's Calculator for propane tanks it wants to know a gallon size. My tank is 30 X 87 and on this site ( http://www.smokerplans.net/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_3&sort=20a&alpha_filter_id=50 ) it tells me I have a 200 gallon. The 250 is...

    New guy here.

Hi, I'm Fred and I've been checking out the forum here for quite a while now. I'm from Middle Georgia and I'm getting ideas for what I thought was a 250 gallon propane tank reverse flow smoker. Turns out my tank is 30" dia, and 87" long and I'm now under the impression that my tank is only a 200...
