Any recommendations on Temp Gauges for the doors of my smoker?

So what temperature graduations should I be looking for? Is there a specific range that's better for a smoker?

New Guy and this will be my 1st Reverse Flow Smoker Build

I searched and found most builders modify or build to suit their personal likes. My trailer is 4ft wide and the smoker is not centered on it. I off set it to leave room for a wood rack on the back side.

    That's what my frame is made of, 1/8 (11ga) x 2 x 3 tube.

So I set the 6" ID stack in place and yes it looks too tall to me.  I have acquired a piece of pipe that is 8.625 ID and 9.125 OD and run the numbers per the calculator here on SMF and come up with 21.10". I think I like the shorter stack better, but maybe not that short. I figure a little...

about to buy steel for firebox/warming box and want a second opinion on design

Guess I should have said 1/4" for firebox may be a little thin on a 500 gallon smoker if your using Feldons calculations. Your firebox will be undersized and will be getting much hotter.

about to buy steel for firebox/warming box and want a second opinion on design

I'm sure you'll get more knowledgeable reply's than mine, but 1/4" material for the fire box on a 500 gallon reverse flow smoker may be a little on the thin side. My brother in law used 3/8" for the fire box on his 500 gallon and his box gets extremely hot. His box is not sized by the calculator...

New Guy and this will be my 1st Reverse Flow Smoker Build

Quick questions Dave, is the 43.61 stack length above the smoker or does it include the amount I drop down into the smoker? Also, whats a good depth in from the top or height above top rack to end stack? I intend to cut an angle on the section inside the CC.

HEEELP!! need assistance figuring out Firebox-to-Cook Chamber Opening

Do as Dave says and read the tutorial again. Ask specific questions about your numbers, but ask about them one at a time. When you clear one hurdle in your head go to the next. Trust me, it worked for me. You can read my thread...

New Guy and this will be my 1st Reverse Flow Smoker Build

After going back and forth on the option of using the boat trailer I had purchased or building a smaller trailer, I purchased 3 sticks of 11ga x 2 x 3 tubing and started my frame. I got a pretty good start on it yesterday.

    Reverse Flow trailer build

The thread explains it all, but here's a bit of it that pretty much explains it in a nut shell. Smoker Calculator reasoning The concept for the changes is below.... Alien and his associates, did an amazing job putting the original calculator together... 100% of my numbers are based on his...

    Reverse Flow trailer build

I too am building a reverse flow but I'm using the calculator here on the forum. I think you may want to take a look and reconsider your calculations. http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/172425/standard-reverse-flow-smoker-calculator-by-daveomak-and-others-ready-to-use-rev5-6-19-15

    120 gallon smoker build

Easy way is to measure tank from end to end . Then measure from weld seam to weld seam . Subtract weld to weld from overall tank. Divide the difference by 1/2 and add the result back to the weld to weld length. This is the tank length you want to use. If you look at the sketch, you want 1 end...

New Guy and this will be my 1st Reverse Flow Smoker Build

Well after taking a good hard look at the trailer I purchased I've come to the conclusion that its way way too big. The frame width (spring center to spring center) is 67". If I put the smoker in the center to maintain the CG, I would not be able to reach the smoker standing on the ground to the...
