This should be it for tonight, and i doubt ill have any pictures to show you of the finished since i plan to pull it at my father in laws.
As you can see in the last pic the difference in size between my night night juice and the shoulder picnic.
First pic shows how it looks after a...
more to come. Thank you all. Sorry to leave you hanging there Tasunka with the SnP. I thought we were going to be Qing together on the same rig, but once i found out we live in the same city as one of the largest drum dist in the world and they can be bought for 40.00 BRAND NEW no liner, lid...
this just in:) The picture of the wood on fire was merely my slow self taking too many pictures. Once the lid went back on temps dropped, but slowly. That was about 3-4 hours of seasoning and very little charcoal was used. again, I LOVE THIS THING.
Everything is seasoned.
I have some pics, but most of you would be mad because you wont see end results.
I started off with my favorite, beef ribs. I also threw on a St louis style rib just because. So far they look great.
Started seasoning at 9am and its now 5pm and just pulled off the...
I had these from last week and didnt have a chance to post. Ive been in the process of making TWO UDS units so its taken all of my time.
Ill post more if you have questions, but these were the best ive ever made.
First time with corn and i loved it. Smoked all with apple.
Yes, two are dry...
Your brine and mop was awesome. I didnt have lime(or was it lemon) so i had to substitute for orange. I also did not have coriander.
Here is some goodies for you. I had to break out little red to get the job done. Smoked with cherry. Juiciest breasts ive had since i was a teen.

Its simple enough to just go all the way around and divide by three too.
Cooking surface area on a drum with weber 22.5" grate.
A=πr²
A=(3.14)(11.25)²
A=(3.14)(11.25)(11.25)
A=397.4in²
i used to hate tri tip for the same exact reason you mentioned. at the time i only had a grill and would throw it on there for a few hours or however long it took. I would get a nice tasty crust with no flavor in the middle.
I have since evolved into a smoker and learned the ways. Tritip...
I was putting my drum together and decided to give everyone a math point of view on calcuations.
Stay tuned on another thread for my drum build(x2)
MEASURING FOR 3 INTAKE PORTS
First thing you want to do is take the diameter of the drum. Remember if you measure the inside of the drum you need...
I dont even know where to start so i will sum it up in a few words. You sir did a great job on the smoker and the blogspot.
The best part was the rotisserie. I too planned to modify the UDS to accept a rotisserie and you just helped with the insight.
Points to you and keep us updated on the...
Im in the same boat as you. I would do it for 100% free for my best bud, and charge only for materials for any other friend. I dont look at my time as an expense no matter what my occupation would be. Friends are always free for me.
Once i get my FTP back up and running ill share with you pics of my beef ribs tonight. If you want meaty beef ribs you have to go with short ribs. Your ribs looked great. I was drooling all over the keyboard

Well i decided to take my chances especially after the last recommendation.
Im putting small logs into the smoker for 30 minutes at about 180-220° F. Im not too critical at what temps just as long as the logs dont catch fire. After about 3 hours of reading on various websites, forums, etc. I...
The wood has small holes and has small beetles. They are not termites. Im planning to spray the wood with pesticides to kill the beetles. how long should i let the pesticides air out before i can use it for smoking? Should i just toss all this apple wood and be on the safe side?

The paint wheel made out of a hard rubber works well. I was able to clean up the top and middle section quite well. I will need to spend a few more hours on the total drum once i am done, but so far im happy. I will post pics of the progress when i get my camera charged.
For the sand...
