    Idaho winter steaks

100%. Eastern idaho is the worst. Driving there is completely draining since there's hundreds of miles of nothing! And no offense to anyone from Pocatello, but it felt icky and I was glad to get out of there during a brief stop.

Boise and Moscow are def the two greatest places in Idaho.

    Playa Del Carmen

Yep, just avoid 5th. Once you avoid 5th, there doesn't seem to be much else IMO. I'm sure there is, but we didn't stay there long enough.

    Idaho winter steaks

Idaho is also a big friggen deal for barley and hops too :) #1 and #2 respectfully. -a fellow idahoan (who's looking for a WSM).

I'm ready to upgrade from my Camp Chef Pellet to an gravity fed...would like some experiences

Nice! Thanks for having me go back to read that, it's been awhile. The WSM rib looked the best, and if it was any more amount smokier, I would have taken it too like the wifey. :) The 560 seems small. The 800 series seemed a bit small when I looked it last. Still a good deal, you can MAYBE...

I'm ready to upgrade from my Camp Chef Pellet to an gravity fed...would like some experiences

I trust y'all with more experience, but I don't see how a GF is more equal to a stick burner when it's still operating off of charcoal (mainly) and also with smoldering wood chunks, exactly how a WSM is doing it, just not in seperate chamber. Stick burners burn sticks only. That's just gonna...

    Playa Del Carmen

I just got back from Playa Del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, and also stayed in the Xcarat resort area. Isla Mujeres beats all of the above, 10x fold. Undoubfly, you're going to be steered to somewhere on 5th Ave, which is touristy as touristy gets. You're going to be bombarded every 10-20 seconds...

I'm ready to upgrade from my Camp Chef Pellet to an gravity fed...would like some experiences

Again--why not a WSM to the commenters above? From what i'm reading, the taste profile of a WSM and a Gravity Fed Charcoal is pretty much the same. The Gravity Fed Charcoal is more akin toa pellet grill for convienece, but the WSM from what I'm reading is pretty damn close to set it and...

I'm actually thinking to get a weber smoky mountain instead. Seems to be a perfect marriage of convience and smoke flavor. Thoughts?

Others may disagree, but I think $800 is far too much for the MB 800. I've seen a couple very lightly used units pop up for $400 asking price recently. Others have found them for $400. Tis the season! I've looked at one recently. Quality seems OK as long as you're using it to broil stuff. The...

I'm ready to upgrade from my Camp Chef Pellet to an gravity fed...would like some experiences

Thanks for the responses! I think the problem with the masterbuilt is simply the price and longetivity. I didn't realize this, but the 800 is $800. $800 for something that isn't built to last is a hard pill to swallow. :(

We've been using our Camp Chef (with side kick--which is an amazing accessory) for a couple years and have been enjoying it. It's pretty nice to be able to smoke a pork butt while you're sleeping, and the side kick is superb for deep frying, woking, and gas grilling. I can probably see us...

Oh yea, we smoked a Salmon on it yesterday and it was absolutely awesome.

Analog Masterbuilt MES35B Mods for AMNPS

We are super happy with how this performs. Keep in mind we are totally noobs. Smoke flavor is plentiful and it's the best way that we know up to this point to BBQ. We've cooked the best pork and beef ribs to date by a landslide with this MES. No smoke ring, but unmistakably smoky (the...

We cooked both a large and small babyback pork racks without breaking them down. A rack of beef ribs should fit.

Let the smoker cook down. Filled up a row of apple pellets. Didn’t do the microwave thing. I also let them burn for about 3-5 minutes. Blew on them to make sure they were red hot and good to go. The modded MES35 seems to have a great place to support the A-maze-N. Right under the water bowl to...

Analog Masterbuilt MES35B Mods for AMNPS

So what this upgrade did for me was : 1) 20F closer to "actual" temp (confirmed with my separate Thermaltake probe) all just by getting a better door thermometer. 2) Made unit smoke much faster/easier 3) Separated "smoke" and "heat" setting to allow for a greater degree of control. 4) Allows me...

Analog Masterbuilt MES35B Mods for AMNPS

Here's me doing basically the same thing as the OP. This is a bit of work in progress since I am currently dry-running. Unlike the OP, I didn't care about plugging up the rear hole (I argue that it will make zero difference) and keeping that hole clear can allow for a probe to be installed. I...

Analog Masterbuilt MES35B Mods for AMNPS

I just bought this same smoker and used it twice unmodded. It's a very clean looking smoker. I actually think it looks better than the nicer ones with a window, or with a digital control. I wanted something very simple and clean looking. Like the OP, I noticed that this smoker lacks...
