Hi, Dave...good tip if I have to run it...but I really, really like 3/32" 7018! Something about chipping off the slag of a properly done stick weld reminds me of opening a Christmas present!
Jack...this one runs .045, but only in flux core. I have a nice 460v 3ph stick welder when I need to really get after it. My smaller Miller rig was marginal over 1/8"...this should at least handle 3/16" easy.
Tried to attach a pix of what I believe themule69 described. Maybe it will load later.
I agree on adding the upper rack too...toss some chx up there! Have fun with it.
Started on one for SMF member Shamp...
This will have a firebox on the side and effectively a series of tuning plates, and I'll be trying to direct the flow across vs. simply vertically.
Started with an oil tank. Built frames for each side which fit tightly. These will eventually be welded to...
Really looking sharp!
I used 3/16...since my firebox is not under the cc at any point it works fine. If there was overlap, I'd think there might be some benefit to going thicker.
Happy 4th, folks!
So who's cooking what over the next few days?
I've got 9 slabs of St. Louis on deck for a get together at the house today, and I'm cooking 3 packers and some chicken on Saturday for our friends' kid's Open House...that will be a long day!
Enjoy, and remember what kind of...
After this point, I got too busy pulling and packaging 60 lb of pork for the open house to take any more pix. All 8 got done on time (nice to have a warmer). It went over big. Long day started at 3am and ended at 1am, but lots of fun and I have to admit I liked the attention the grub got too!
