Hitting the bumper crop time of year for jalapeños, and I wanted to try something new. I've used bread crumbs and hash browns in ABTs before, and wanted to try a new "base" recipe while I had some ribs on today.

Have fun with it. When I built mine, I found it needed a bit more air than the existing spinners provided. Just food for thought if you have troubles managing your fire. Did you line it w firebrick so you don't burn through the bottom?
Late to this party...I've got a little electric one that does everything I need unless its a knotty chunk. Your idea with a wide wedge head would cover that...I may modify mine at some point, likely when it comes time to build the wedge up and resharpen it.

1 - I can't really give you a comparison before/after as far as fuel, as I've not cooked on anything but this (in relation to its' size...but if you look at the wood box up front...
I think you'll see them here...not my RF but the principal's the same. Allow about 1/8" clearance vertically; it can be a bit helpful if your racks tip down a bit when loading, and that will allow that to happen

Anyway, here's the "rack module" for lack of a better description. I need to weld in the expanded steel, but you get the idea. Way easier to fab this outside than inside the unit.
