    Smoking in Minnesota Winters

I was prepared to put my smoker away for the witner and then I read a handful of posts on this forum.  So, I picked up a welder's blanket at my local hardward store.  It fits around my smoker really well and I just use a couple of clamps to hold it tight.  I've used my smoker almsot every...

    Chicken Thighs (MES 40 Smoked)

Very helpful - did a pan of thighs and legs on Saturday - the pans advice is much apprecaited.  I marinated mine overnight in Italian dressing and then tossed them with some rib about an hour before putting them on the smoker.  They came out great - we ate about half of them for dinner on...

Water pans, do you use them and why?

I've reading the conversations around the water pan and the pros and cons.  Well, last weekend for the first time, I tried sand in place of the water in the water pan. Hello from Minnesota

Thanks everyone for the encouragement - thinking about some chicken this weekend on the smoker or maybe just some sausage.  I just hate to leave that smoker sitting empty for a whole weekend.

    Hello from Minnesota

Hello - I'm located in the Twin Cities.  I had been messing around with using my gas grill for smoking for a year or so but I found it really hard to keep the temperature low enough.  I recently purchased a used CharBroil H2O Electric smoker for $20 and thought I'd give it a try.  Did two racks...
