Looking for real life Dehydrator experiences

Hi Dave, I have been wanted to try turkey jerky again but I am always so concerned about salmonella that I end up over cooking it.  I like your suggestion about dipping it in a hot brine.  How long do you leave it  in a hot (boiling?) brine?  any suggestions on a brine?  Any tips on turkey...

    New Dyna-Glo vertical offset smoker

Congrats on a great deal.  This is a very easy smoker to learn on.  One thing.  Is there a damper on it?  If not, read through this thread and determine how to put one on. Good luck.  Hope to see your first smoke threaded here.

    New Dyna-Glo vertical offset smoker

WOW.  That's makes so much sense.  I don't weld and never knew what to do about installing the baffler.  I never thought to just simply put a piece of sheet metal in long enough to just lay there.   Simple but Brilliant.  Thanks.  Now where to get the piece of sheet metal.  lol.  Thanks

Thanks.  It's crazy.  The last ones I bought said they were good to 900 degrees.  I don't believe them and I have the blister to prove it.

Having heat level issues with new smoker

Hi Aaron, WOW!  great questions I am putting a few lit coals into an unlit coal basket.  I don't get as much smoke flavor in my meat as I did with my older smoker. My meat is getting over cooked I use Lump Charcoal with chunks of wood.  I also used a full log and that didn't give much smoke...

Having heat level issues with new smoker

Hi all, I recently purchase a new smoker from Mack Daddy smokers.  I have used it twice and I keep having issues with the heat level. I think the gauges may not be working.  I am getting charred pieces of meat and they aren't in there long enough to be burning.  I am also not getting the think...

HELP: Looking for quality pair of BBQ mitts.

Hi All, I am looking for a good pair of mitts that will protect my hands when I'm pulling out the coal basket full of lit coals. I've bought 2 pair so far and I've burned myself doing this exact task with each pair. Any suggestions?

My new smoker is finally here and ready to light up

So I am trying to use this thing and I don't think the gauges are accurate.  My jerky was charred but the gauges said 250.  I'm also not getting the smoke I used to get from my little Dyna Glow.   Any suggesting?

My new smoker is finally here and ready to light up

They told me it was more storage but since it is right next to the figure box, I'm guessing anything I out in there will melt.  Maybe I could use it as an oven.  lol

My new smoker is finally here and ready to light up

Well here it is.  The new smoker has been officially christened!   We have Beef Ribs, a few racks of Saint Luis ribs and hundred pieces of beef jerky.  The space of this thing is exactly what I needed. It burned through the wood and coals quicker than I would like but I'm sure I need to play...

agreed.  I wouldn't want those spoked wheels.  This unit would probably crush them.  lol  I wanted a bigger heavy duty caster but I will make do with what I have.  I should be good for a while

This beast weights in at about 600lbs.  I think the casters are not big enough.

My new smoker is finally here and ready to light up

Hi Friends, So any of you that recognize my ID might know what I've gone through over the past year and a half with regards to buying a new smoker.  I'm not going to go on here about it.  I'm here to show off my new smoker. I bought this from Mack Daddy Smokers out of Florida.  Bill is the...
