Thanks so much for all your thoughts and prayers. Tonto is fighting off some serious infection. Mega doses of antibiotics seem to be helping.
I'm sitting here in the hospital room watching Tonto struggle with this mess. I've read all your notes to her and they have brought cheer...
Sad to report that we had to put Tonto in the hospital last night. She's got a massive cyst and attendant infection. She's being well attended. As sick as she is, she insisted that I provide her lap top so that she can stay 'connected' to the SMF. I'm sure she would be cheered mightily if...
Smokin' Scotsmen are very happy and pleased to announce that Geoff (Crewedog 52) is the newest member of the team! Geoff cheered us on at the Taste of Grand Rapids and helped a bunch at Silver Lake. We are looking forward to Libertyville Illinois in October. Hope any SMF members that can will...
Thanks all - it was a great event and a beautiful venue. Good to see Teacup who was kind enough to bring some very tasty canadian beer; Johnd and Karen were delightful along with their daughter.
Crewedog aka Geoff Crewe, we are very proud to announce, is the newest member of the Smokin'...
The rib turn in did not work as well as it did in Clinton Mo.
Silver Lake was a beautiful venue and it was great to meet JohnD, his lovely wife Karen along with Teacup and his better half, Geoff the Crewe man, Bubba's much better half Cindy and daughter Riley and great people of West Michigan.
Joe,
glad to see things are going well. Looks like my Indians may well be going up against the Red Sox in the play offs. Would love to get tix and come by for the best bbq in the north east.
Believe that the name comes from a town in south Georgia; i.e. "Brunswick Georgia". I first heard of the stew when I had the great pleasure to live in Savannah Georgia back in the late 70's. Can anybody confirm?
Really looking forward to seeing all of you that can be there. Compared to Amazin' Blanzin' and triple digit temps, Silver Lake will be in high 60's to very low 70's. Bubba and I will have to wear the wool lined kilts!
Debi, it's been a crazy summer. As we speak, we are half way to long Island to see our kids and grand baby. We wish we had more time to relax and communicate on line. Thanks to Gypsy and your beautiful family for coming out in the crazy heat - we enjoyed meeting you all. Bill, thanks for...
Smokebuzz,
Been cooking on the 60 delux all Summer. Tonto wishes that we had gone with the 84 but I'm perfectly happy with the 60 for comps and medium size parties. We can cook two butts, two briskets, 6-9 racks and 20 thighs easily. Not so sure that the whole hog would be practical...
Thanks, you all.
Tonto has been taking her meds and feels better. She is also completly
out of the heat here in good old west Michigan.
Looking forward to the next comp in Silver Lake Michigan. We get key team member Steve, aka, Bubba BBQ back. We got some ideas on the ribs and brisket...
The Smokin' Scotsmen are finally back from the edges of hades......121 in the sun!
What an incredible competition. The setting is the Wilson county fairgrounds in Lebanon Tennessee (near Nashville). This fair is rated number one in the country virtually every year. The Amazon Blazin is over...
Sorry for the delay in reporting in.....we didn't get back until late last night. Had to take Tonto to the emergency clinic on the way back. She had Siatic nerve pain in her knee and leg to the point she could barely walk plus, due to the incredible heat, an imbalance in her electrolites and...
