I have one ordered (24x60 with a 3/8" thick cook chamber) but it won't be ready until April
In other forums, they have been discussed frequently by those who have them. Everyone absolutely loves them, and not one person has anything bad to say about the way they cook. They follow Lang's RF...
Mr. Cue-
Of course a Jambo is worth every dime, it's just most people can't afford to dish out the $5.5k+ for the "economy" model, let alone a J3 or J5. The baby J is nice, but if you want something larger than a 24x48 on a trailer, it's too small (and still $3.5k). PCC also makes fabulous...
Haha beefmeister, I hear ya!
My Ram is pretty new, so the wife already put the cabosh on the bumper idea for it. She says the smoker is enough money, I don't get any more :(
Awesome! I'm glad when a small shop like them gets more business. I jumped in line because I was able to customize it how I wanted, and the price you pay for that good of quality can't be beat!
If you want a cooker the size of a lang 60 but cheaper, check out Shirley Fabrication. I ordered one and it was about $1200 less than a Lang 60 deluxe, with a bit more overall square inches of cooking space than the Lang. Quality is top notch, customer service can't be beat. Keep in mind, they...
Awesome! Glad you went with SF. I ordered mine, and it's supposed to be built by May....
Paul is the best! Like another forum post said, "He makes you feel like you've known him for years". One class act. Tyler is a master at fab, and they are a knock-out duo. Anyone who doubts them needs to to...
I was in the same situation. I eventually went with a 24x60 from Shirley Fabrication. If you get the warmer box, it has more overall space than a Lang 60 deluxe, and for $1200 less. But like JJ said, no one wishes they had gone with the smaller one. You will find a way to fill er up!
Hey guys, just wanted to add another name to the list on this thread....Shirley Fabrication. It's a father/son team that builds smokers along with other things (like custom car/truck bumpers) out of Alabama. They do great work, pay attention to ever detail, and are honest with you as to why they...
I was 1 number away from winning that raffle!! Imagine my disappointment when I was reading the numbers and getting happier as I went until I reached that last number... :(
That being said, I am also now looking to buy a Lang soon. PCC was up there, but they're pricey. Lang is my top choice...
Even if he doesn't get back to you (I think he will), I have full confidence Sara definitely showed those pic to Ben, and that he made it a point to "have a talk" with his welders.
I just looked at that baby J some more. There is a $700 crating fee on top of the shipping (which I'm guessing would be ~$700), so that baby J just became a 5k cooker. Well that make that decision easier to say no to...
Yeah, that baby J is pretty sweet! That's exactly what I would want from Jambo, thanks for pointing that out. Too bad shipping from TX to MN would put it over 4k bucks, and there is absolutely no way my wife would go for that. It was like pulling teeth just to get her to go to a 3500 (she makes...
I emailed Mr. Geer today to see how much a backyard model on a trailer would be. I'm guessing it won't be as cheap as a Lang, and probably around the same price as a PCC, if not more. The PCC I want has the insulated firebox (+$567) wood bin (+$325), and trailer itself (+$850), on top of the...
I am still on the fence between a Lang and a PCC. I was leaning towards a Lang, from what I have heard/read about them, coupled with a few people I talked to who have them. Me personally, I have gotten great customer service from Peoria, even though I was just inquiring about their cookers. It...
Thanks for the info/reply JJ,
I plan on using whatever smoker I get for mostly family/neighborhood cooks. My wife has 86, 1st cousins alone, so you can see how a family gatherin can be large.I'm not into the comp side of BBQ, so I really don't mind certain aspects of a smoker (temp variances)...
The wife just said/suggested something that shocked me...."What about the one that you can tow behind the truck?" Ba-Booom! Blew.My.Mind. I was trying to beg/borrow/steal from her just to get a backyard patio cooker and then she said that. Now I get the option of a cooker on a trailer? Wow...
AArrrggg!! How could I forget about the smoke stacks?!?!
The options seem to be totally in your favor to produce the perfect temp, in the area you want within the smoker. Like you said, the attention to detail blows my mind. The oil impregnated bearings, the dexter axle, all the options that...
Yeah, the Meat Monster lives up to its name...the thing is a beast! I've seen it at a couple comps (I was a spectator, not a comp) and it looks like it definitely will get the job done. Sadly, I can't afford itJJ, if you call PCC, I'm sure Sarah (that's who I talked to) will let you know who in...
I never used a RF, so the PCC would be more normal to me than a Lang. However, I wouldn't mind learning it if I bought a Lang!!
Jambo has a reputation for being top notch, and their fireboxes on the same size pits are the same as PCC. May be an overkill a bit, but it works and I won't argue...
