My first build - 120 gallon tank

Nice job Joe, "Welding tips and Tricks" is a really good resource to see how it really works. He does a better job than most of getting a view of the puddle with good narrative. I bought his tig finger to support the site and it really works well.

    120 gal. build -New Member-

Should not be a problem at all, just make it a little bit shorter, not much under 30".

    20" Pipe RF Smoker

You did that before and it still looks great!

250 Gallon Reverse Flow FIRST BUILD!!!

Most people put the vent at or very near the top of the cook chamber. That is where the heat stacks up and heat is what generates flow out the chimney. Higher is better for an efficiently flowing reverse flow smoker.

    My RF Vision

Looks great SmokeJumper, it takes extra time to build in all the unique features you are putting in this smoker!

    Will this work?

I'm not buying what he said on that one..... thin blue smoke (TBS) comes from coals under hot wood.

    My 250 Gallon Build

That will be a really nice rig when you are done, where are you from?

    Will this work?

Fair enough, I guess I'm speaking for myself and I'm not always prompt to answer when issues come up but I do like guys to think out of the box. There is a lot of time that goes into building one of these things, I know, mine is stalled but I hope to get on track shorty if crap would stop...

Should be no problem to raise the plate. Get some of this or similar tap fluid. I mine is Tap Magic ...

    Will this work?

No worries Ink, we are a community of equal opportunity helpers only trying to keep guys from making some of the mistakes we have made. Its all good. I went through engineering school with dyslexia in the days of the slide rule and was married to a bipolar chick, I get it. You have some good...

**New Member = First Reverse Flow Smoker Build from 60 Gallon Compressor Tank**

They work good, I have a set, never needed them for a smoker but they do generate a good amount of force.

    Will this work?

I get why this is confusing, I think....  I believe Dave was saying even if you have the 1/4" divider, it would end up getting really hot in there and could end up lighting the wood in that chamber. If you didn't leave it in there too long, it would work and I think you have a good idea. If you...

First Build (Moved from smoker build section)

It depends on what you will be cooking for how much height you want between the racks. If you do beer can chicken, or turkeys, they are tall, butts, not quite as much, ribs and half chickens are nothing. As long as you can slide out the racks to tend the meat, you will be fine.  I would hang a...

My first build - 120 gallon tank

Looks great Joe! Glad to hear you son and daughter are showing interest in your project. There is nothing better you can do than to teach your kids some skills, these days most only excel at video games. Well done sir! Don't worry, you aren't losing your hair, you will find it growing out of...

First Build (Moved from smoker build section)

I think you will be fine with that clearance above the RF plate. Your height for the stack is good as long as the volume meets the calculations, round pipe flows better than what you have but if everything else is on point, it should be OK. You can always cut the inside part of the stack off if...

    Will this work?

What about the side of the firebox under the CC, if it won't be insulated, you could put a small wood rack down there and let the radiant heat from the FB heat it up. Since you wouldn't be leaving it there that long, I imagine it would warm up good but not catch fire right away since it is...
