My guess is that this will be included in an forthcoming update. It seems as though everything is there other than the ability for the end-user to specify an address that they can access the same connection remotely. I do this regularly for security cameras and other LAN devices so for me all...
I didn't say I did. I was being facetious in my response because even using said deflectors I've seen temperature variances of nearly triple digits from one side of the grill to the other on a Daniel Boone WiFi model. While I don't doubt it would be worse w/o the deflectors I have a hard time...
Interesting. Mine is v5.8 which I thought was the newest.
To check, you flip the rocker switch to off. Then, while pressing the up arrow button you flip the rocker switch to on and keep holding until it displays the version.
I didn't upgrade because mine said v5.8 which the reading I did...
Normally I'd agree with this idea but I've got a new smoker I'm wanting to test. I'd like to get it functioning 100% as advertised. I also need to learn how the thing works & what to do or what my options are when things don't go exactly as planned. So while it's a good idea & certainly would...
That's what i was looking for. It's not that i don't have the time to 'properly' shut ut down it's just that I'm not sure if that's actually the proper approach mid-smoke.
In fact, it's @ 165deg now & needs to be foiled so rihht niw would probably be the right time to go for it.
It's my first smoke & I'm having WiFi issues. I think I've tracked it down to a loose antenna connector on the outside cover to the controller. I want to remove the cover to have a look but the high volrage warnings have done their job.
Do i need to go through the 15min 'cool down' fan...
So I bought it. I went to see it and the location is such that it's on the back panel and my smoker will likely back up against my house which means nobody will even see it. The super glue job they did is pretty darn good and it looks like it will hold up pretty well but given that it won't be...
I'm reading a lot about these smokers having a hot spot on the right side of the grill and now I'm seeing that there's versions of heat shields that are addressing this issue. The videos I've seen have a three-piece design with a larger square piece in the center and then two triangular panel...
I can't wait to start posting some Q-Views with this bad boy! It'll be nice to have an actual smoke ring now instead of constantly explaining to my buddies why it wasn't a big deal that my electric smoker couldn't make them. lol
Scored a thermal blanket for it today for $45! One of the Ace Hardware employees drug a box cutter across it to the tune of about 5" during unboxing. They did a pretty good job w/super glue plus it's on the back panel so you can't see it once installed if I back it to the house which is where my...
Kind of my thought too. Mostly cosmetic but it's right on the front/top panel where you see it then maybe it's going to drive me nuts even if it stays repaired. Then again, that's why I got the grill cover, right? lulz
I'm having a hard time finding a local shop that has the GMG thermal blanket in stock (lots of people wanting to use their smoker in Colorado winters I guess) and I finally found a local shop that has one in stock for $80 which is about the going price. They also happen to have one that has...
After I posted that I looked at the site closer and there's a note that says 'Ships in 2-3 weeks' and I'm not waiting a month for a thermal blanket. I'm going to my local Ace Hardware today as a little birdie told me they stock GMG parts and have the thermal blanket. Maybe I can use one of my...
Where's the cheapest price for that Daniel Boone thermal blanket that you guys found? My local shop was out of stock and I'm seeing prices near $100 at some online vendors. Looks like PlumbersStock.com has about the best shipped price I've seen at $77 total? Anyone find better than that? I...
