    gearing up for this weekend. I think i will do a temp test run tomorrow evening using lump charcoal. double check the thermometer on the with boiling water. If all goes well throw on a pork butt on saturday wee hours of the morning of course and see what happens. Again thanks for your input...

    Guys and gals thanx for all the great ideas. Flash i have a Northern Tool 5 minutes from my office, that is looking like the simplest gas conversion process. And yes the thing is heavy, the original charcoal pan must weight 10# plus. I am looking forward to some kind of test run this weekend...

    i would agree it looks just like the backdraft damper it looks like the one install on a loren cook cabinet restroom exhaust fan but micro sized. this style damper is gravity operated and hinges from the top edge with the ears. i figure you will need to remove the fan and on the discharge side...
