Dual RF Smokers on trailer....My first adventure

The class was actually pretty good. The food we judged was not even close to competition. In fact I spit the brisket out it was so bad. I got to see a Lang 84" smoker and got a charge out of how much that smoker cost. I did see a smoker that heated their water the old fashion way by the...

Dual RF Smokers on trailer....My first adventure

So far there's only one factory smoker. A jambo that is waaaaaay nice. There are a few glorified or hyper smokers that have copied traeger. I call them phonies because they use pellets and forced air. And 2 home built of which only one that comes SLIGHTLY close to mine

Jabbo, I'm sorry I didn't read your thread until now.  Fascinating!  Nice looking smoker.  And your sign is erie.  My sign guy just did mine and it is VERY similar to yours.  He only texted it to me and I wish I could figure out how to forward it to my email.  I'm calling my monsters "My Little...

RF Build: A Story in Pictures

Yep, I cheated on mine and welded the pieces of tubing to the plate and then each side together, including the tubing.  My plate was squarer than I could ever get tubing to stick to being square.  Clamps and welds.

    Reverse flow problems

this just confirms my suspicions that a insulated firebox is definitely the way to go

    Reverse flow problems

I would almost bet you have two big problems your vent needs to be underneath your fire and you need some way to shut your stack down so not so much heat is going out of it

    First 120 gallon smoker build

I agree with Dave and Ribwizzard.  I am just finishing twin smokers.  You might think of building an insulated firebox to conserve feul.  I'm not into a fixed firebox, it limits your options, not to mention points brought up by RibWiz. Hvae more questions, be sure to ask. Mike

    500 Gallon RF newbie build

"Check out my weights on my build.  I got the idea frim Dragons Breath and they work perfect.  I used a 2" square tube (because I had it and didn't have to buy), and I then filled it with a piece of 1-3/4" round solid stock.  I simply built the weights 1" wider then the doors and put the solid...

    Firebox and RF plate questions

Exhaust pipe:  Plug your numbers into the calculator and it will be specific on length of your 3" pipe.  It should calculate to let you know if 3" is big enough.  The guys are right, after a smoker is built is the wrong time to find a mistake.  And 6" from RF plate to cook area in my opinion is...

    Reverse flow problems

2 things come to mind, make sure lower vent is only open to give fire plenty of air, get rope and seal her up, can be found at any wood stove outlet.  Could be exhaust is too small to allow air to move out thus warmer air into tank, or exhaust is allowing too much to escape.  Trial and error my...

A guy wants to sell me this rf smoker

a note, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.  $900 wouldn't even get a descent start on that unit.  To good to be true!
