    Intro- Advice

Rec Tec should meet your needs. RT-2500 BFG PELLET GRILL https://www.rectecgrills.com/RT-2500-BFG-Pellet-Grill The Piitts and Spitts Mavirck 2000 would also be a good choice. https://pittsandspitts.com/pellet-grills/

    New Timberline 1300

Looks great, where did you get the shelf? I have been wanting to add a front shelf to mine, I hate that little half shelf it only gets in the way.

Please add my Grandson to your prayers!

Thought I would give an update on Eric, this is from his mother today. Update - this morning was a good news/bad news meeting with Eric’s docs...good news (which we already knew) everything shows that Eric is in remission...bad news all genetic markers show that this is a highly aggressive form...

    Debating on a pellet grill

A pellet grill is hard to beat for set and forget cooking. It will have a much lighter smoke profile than a charcoal or wood offset but a much better profile then any gas grill. I have a Timberline 1300 and a Kamado Joe Big Joe and for me they are the perfect combination for anything I want to...

Wood pellet of choice for Thanksgiving turkey?

I always did my birds on my Kamado grills until I got my Timberline 1300 last year. I used Lumberjack comp blend last year and they came out good but this year I thought I would try their Cherry and see how they come out. We always do one bird in the oven conventional style, wife demands it and...

    New pellet smoker help

For cold weather you should really look at the new Traeger Timberline 1300 D2. I have the original 1300 and it has been great for me. The new D2 has some very nice improvements over mine. I just did 6 Butts at 225°, started at 2 am and it was in the 30's outside, finished at 4 this afternoon...

Please add my Grandson to your prayers!

Today the oncologist came in to let us know that the tumor at the base of Eric’s spine is not shrinking fast enough and is impeding other bodily functions so they have now decided that he will start a 12 day course of radiation on top of the chemo in order to reduce the size fairly quickly. This...

Please add my Grandson to your prayers!

Update on Eric: We found out that he has AML leukemia and not the T-cell they originally thought and he has more tumors on his spine and in his head then they thought. The good news is the doctors came in this morning and told us that they can see in Eric’s bloodwork that the chemo is already...

Please add my Grandson to your prayers!

My grandson Eric was just diagnosed with T-Cell leukemia and also has tumors on his spine and near his eye. The only good news is that it is the kind that responds to treatment and the prognoses for remission is good. They will start him on chemo tomorrow but he has to stay isolated in the...

    I need a new knife

I'll add my 2¢'s to the thread. You have been given some very good choices for good inexpensive knives but you also said you might consider a good Japanese knife. I would highly recommend the Yaxell slicing knife as a great choice...

    Egg temp control issues

How large of a fire are you originally starting with in your egg? For low and slow you need to start a very small fire. I have a KJ Big Joe and I only start one small section in the middle, for low and slow. The larger your initial fire, the harder it is to get low temps to stabilize. Try...

SmokeDaddy Magnum P.I.G and Pellet Pro PID upgrade for my PB Austin XL

You will not have any smoke flavor with a pellet grill above about 300°. You will have smoke flavor from a Kamado regardless of the temp, just due to the fuel used.

    Pellet storage.

I don't have any pics but I use the white food grade 5 gallon buckets, with the spin on lid from Lowe's and they work great for storing my pellets.

    Upgrading to Aftermarket PID

I have read nothing but good things about the Savannah controller. If I were in your position and was going to try another PID controller, the Savannah would be the one I would get.

    New Traeger Timberline 850 Problems

I have the older Timberline 1300 model and I have had very good experience with Traeger customer service. I had the WiFi in the controller go bad and they sent me a new controller to replace it. I fortunately didn't loose any grilling time because the controller worked fine, except for the WiFi...

Having Your Pellet Smoker Outside (covered) Year Round, A Problem?

I have a Timberline 1300 and it sits on my back deck with just a cover on it. I have not had any problems with it and I leave the pellets in it, even when I don't use if for a while, in the warm months. In the colder months, I do remove the pellets, as I use my Kamado Joe more in the colder...

    Rec Tec or BGE?

I have both a Kamado Joe and a pellet grill and they are completely different flavor profiles. Before you make up your mind I would highly recommend finding one of your friends with a pellet grill and trying some food cooked on one. Some people like the cleaner flavor from a pellet grill and...
