Help needed with needle valve mod

And I would like to be able to get down to like 100 to start snack sticks properly before slowly raising the temp to like 180. But the way it's running now I couldn't. I'll have to look at DaveOmak's suggestions.

Help needed with needle valve mod

Okay, so I have some questions on this. I installed the needle valve and have used the smoker once since then...to make jerky. The needle valve certainly made it easier to control the flame and therefore the temperature. But it is still difficult to get down to very low temps. If I were to...

Help needed with needle valve mod

Okay, Lowes had what I needed. Not in 1 single brass fitting...but in 3! But worked well, looks good, and hopefully does the job! The 3/8" Flare fitting converted to 3/8" pipe thread. But the 5/16" barb I needed only went to 1/4" pipe thread. So I had to use a 3/8" pipe thread to 1/4" pipe...

Help needed with needle valve mod

Okay, I will do my best to ask this as clearly as I can. I have a Master Forge upright propane smoker that I really enjoy. But I need to add a needle valve for doing jerky and snack sticks. I bought the M5HPR-30 from Bayou Classics from Home Depot. I saw that one in a few posts and it seemed...

Tried my hand at snack sticks and need some help

One slight modification to my original post... I used the Hi Mountain Inferno Blend Snack Stick kit for seasoning and cure. The Cabela's peppered jerky kit was the jerky I made the day before...which turned out awesome! Just wanted to be accurate!

    First Jerky!

So I made my first batch of beef jerky and am thrilled with it! I used eye of round cut 1/4" thick and trimmed of all fat. I used the Cabela's Peppered Jerky kit for seasoning and cure. Smoked it over pecan and apple at about 160-165 for 4.5-5 hours. Today I bought a Foodsaver vacuum...

Tried my hand at snack sticks and need some help

Thanks! I'm torn between the LEM and Northern stuffers. The more I read the less close to a decision I am. I need to stop overthinking it as I'm sure I'll be happy with either.

Tried my hand at snack sticks and need some help

This brings up some follow up questions related to my equipment then... I have a very hard time maintaining temps at lower ranges (100-180). I am having to use the knob on top of the propane tank to limit the flow of propane to get that low. I assume a decent tank regulator that would give...

Tried my hand at snack sticks and need some help

Thanks so much nepas! Your advice will be invaluable next time I try! So these sticks are okay, but not great. Still safe to eat though right?

Tried my hand at snack sticks and need some help

I use a dual probe digital thermometer from Cabela's...one probe for smoker temp and one for meat. Seems accurate

Tried my hand at snack sticks and need some help

Okay, I really love snack sticks and wanted to try making some. Here is what I did... -used 3 lbs. of 85/15 ground beef, 3/4 cold water, and proper amount of Cabela's Peppered Jerky seasoning and cure -added small cubes of sharp cheddar to half the mixture -mixed it all up good and stuffed...

    Newbie could use some advice...

Okay, I am pretty new to the whole smokinh game...but am already in love! I have a Master Forge 2 door cabinet style propane smoker (that I see a lot of on here). I have used it twice before and am using it again now. I have been very happy with my results each time. But I still feel like I...
