My 2nd MES has given up the ghost. They seem to last 3 to 4 years. Looking for a different model / brand that i can just leave on the deck in the weather. Any recommendations?
Followed Masterbuilt process of heating to 275 for 3 hours on non gfci circuit. Worked great on non gfci. Plugging into gfci circuit it reached temp just fine then instead of shutting off heating element and continuing to monitor temp and energize element again. As soon as it reached temp it...
i would contact Masterbuilt, you can get a complete new cabinet for about 70 bucks (included heating element). i can't imagine a heating element being shorted to the cabinet. but possible.

I am on my second MES 30 inch smoker (old style) that has experienced a cabinet short. only solution is to replace the cabinet from Masterbuilt for about $70.00. has anyone with the newer model with control module built into the front of the top had a problem with cabinet shorts?

from what it shows on the TV advertisements, he doesn't WRAP. i tried that on a port butt and got great bark in my MES. did wrap after it was done. so are we making a mistake by wrapping before the meat reaches temp?
30 inch with window which is useless. Love the smoker. It quit after 14 months. Ordered a replacement case for $68. Working again. I didn't think it runs a bit hotter than set.
I have the same smoker. For items that need to be moist inside, make sure to keep the water pan full of water or apple juice or your choice. The vent needs to be open about 1/4 open for most smoking to get circulation.
