First Brisket Smoke on the WSM

Electric smoker quit working on me. I need to call Masterbuilt and get a replacement part. Pretty sure the controller went out. The day after the electric smoker went out I decided to buy a used 18" WSM. Wanted to smoke some st. Louis style spareribs. Got the WSM all set up for ribs. While the...

    The brisket smoke

    Buying used 18" WSM

What's a good price to pay? I'm looking at a used model from 2013, that according to the owner was used only 5 times. It's listed for $150 currently.

WSM are they ever on sale?

There is a guy locally here selling a used 18 for $150 thats 4 years old. Seems a bit over priced to me, considering I can buy brand new for $300 right now.

    Brisket Prices

And here I thought Illinois was horrible. Extremely high property taxes, high sales taxes, high state income tax, and run by crooked Chicago politicians.

    Brisket Prices

$3.99/pound for USDA prime packers at Costco in Peoria, IL area. Not sure on the price at Sams. A couple local butchers sell whole packers that are USDA choice for $6.99 - $7.99 a pound.

    The brisket smoke

I just added about cup of BBQ sauce that I had made a few days earlier. It was essentially Jeffs recipe but with a couple personal touches to it. I changed the process slightly and added a few ingredients to get the taste I like. Once everything was covered Nicely with the Q I sprinkled some...
