    Thanks for the thoughts. Can you comment about the ability to add wood or wood chips mid-smoke on the Smokin-It?  Can it be done without significant loss of heat?  Or is it even necessary?

    All, As the subject says, which would you choose for your first electric smoker, with no intention to modify to make it work? I can "afford" either, just want to choose the right one. And can anyone confirm the cooking capacity of the two?  Very hard to tell from specs online. Thanks!

    How does the Smoke-It #1 compare in capacity to the MES 30?  Reason I ask is that it looks quite small in pictures.  I guess I can compare dimensions from the websites but wanted to get some real-work experience.  Thanks to everyone for offering up the suggestions!
