    hey UNCLCEBEEF here, just my opinion, fill with water to push out any propane that's left and cut.make sure the water is pushing out at the highest point,this is very important to make sure all propane is pushed out .so far i've done three this way and HAVE NOT had any flames or flaming liquid...

    smok'n steve, thanks alot.as far as using my hands. im a diesel tech,i weld and fabricate as a hobby/sidejob.for the hinge im using d.o.m. tubing with an inside diameter just under 7/16'' and using 7/16'' bolts with the heads cut off for the pins. i also drilled an oiling hole in the pivot side...

    pantherfan83,the angle iron /drip tray does have a drop of a 1/4'' towards the drain, while the smoker and trailer is sitting level.if i need more ill just lower the tongue end of the trailer a little.

    did some more work, new photos!!!! i couldnt hold the straight edge steady enough on the long cuts, so i riveted to the smoker. the edges came out so nice.then i tack welded in the first section of the baffle/heat deflector and the drip tray.
