WASTE OF RUM!!!!! I would filter the rum back into a clean glass container and reuse it with some Dr. Pepper! Nothing like a good Rum and Pepper, mmmm! I wish bars would stock Dr. Pepper. Great to spray on ribs during smoking too! Anyway, I digress, NEVER waste the rum!
Why wouldn't you just use the MGT? It has a temp. rating of 842º F and only costs $0.03 more per foot. For the lengths needed for upgrading the MES I would prefer using something that is rated at a higher heat temp. After all, I don't know actually how hot the heating element gets but I do know...
As stated in several MES threads, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I've had mine for a little over a year now, smoke in it at least twice a week and have not had any problems with mine yet. If and when it happens is when I will rely on the expertise here to find a "how to" thread to fix...
If yours is 7 3/4" wide, then yours is the large tray. The small one is only about half that wide. You can also tell by looking at the tray slot after you remove the chip tray. If there is no plate covering the heating element with the "chip tray" removed then it has been converted to the large...
If you have a MastertBuilt with a small chip tray don't bother to do the mod to cut out the plate between the heat element and the chip tray. Just contact MasterBuilt and have them send you the free upgrade to convert it to the bigger tray. This provides the shelf the tray slides into that does...
In my opinion the only thing to use for cold smoking is either the AMNS.. They should and would work with any smoker in the world as long as it has some ventilation to allow the dust to burn. Heck the AMNS will work with just a cardboard box covering over the top of it, not the most effective...
I believe that "black fluid" that dripped out and is "kinda nasty" is Creosote which is probably one of the reasons that subvet suggested you don't build anymore fires that big in the main chamber. Creosote will coat the inside of smoker and then, when it drys, eventually flakes and peels off...
When I was talking about the number of wires I was not talking about the trailer wiring system, I was talking about the individual tail light. If the individual tail light has only two wires it can only be used for either a tail light or a brake/turn signal light. If it has three wires it is...
The lights you give in the link to Harbor Freight look totally different than the ones you have on your truck. The ones at Harbor Freight have only one row of LED lights and the ones shown on your truck look like they have two rows of LED lights.
I would be careful and make sure that the ones...
Did you burn off the can too. A lot of cans use a food grade rubber type of sealant on the seams and lids (since they don't seal cans with lead solder anymore). You may want to "SEASON" the can too.
What I think would work great is something you won't have to drill holes in or buy extra. This is the time of year where you should be able to find some free sand bag bags from your local fire station or where ever your community distributes them for free. Some are the burlap (or gunny sacks)...
I still think the safest way to make sawdust is like I do. I take my small scrap wood blocks and put them in my BlendTec blender and put the lid on and start it up. This thing will blend almost anything into whatever grade of dust you want. The polycarbonate container won't break and the heavy...
I try to not use foil on my grates if at all possible! The foil prevents all sides of my food from being exposed to smoke. If it is something really fine that would fall through the grates I will use one of several products sold that have a finer mesh made for such purpose. The only time I will...
