Good info Wade. Thanks. Came across a heat exchanger yesterday that I will modify into a exhaust system. I figure it will help with cold smoking and dehydrating.
Basically the same thing as the radiator in your car. You can use it to pull heat out of the lines creating hot air, or you could run cool water through it and create cool air, or you can run it in a way that pulls the temp from the ambient environment and transfers it to the lines.
I have been using it on my builds. The 2000 degree tho not the 500. It smells for sure, when you do your burn in it should go away though. Took a couple hours before the smells were gone.
There is a heat exchanger with 2 120v fans. Some kind of stainless tank. Switches, din rail, din rail components, a main breaker with enclosure. All sorts if usable stuff
Yea, me too. Pressure washed it today and picked up some parts to be able to put it back together. Ended up finding Castors for it that were the exact thread pattern as the original legs! They came with this crazy cool piece of equipment I have no idea what it was. But some neat parts I plan to...
Perhaps this will help http://www.roxul.com/files/RX-NA_EN/pdf/MSDS%20and%20Safety%20Bulletin/Roxul%20Material%20Safety%20Data%20Sheet%2002-13-14.pdf
I read up on formaldehyde too, it's also a byproduct of burning wood,,,darn
Dave,
I've noticed a couple times that you use a big chief for fish, do you have a post on your mods? As I am finishing up my traulsen build I am starting to get concerned about if I want to risk getting a fishy taste or smell going in my nice smoker. I plan to use it mainly for red meats and...
Love the flame pics! Keep up the good work. Let me know on the roxul I was going to buy some tomorrow. They make 2 kinds. The normal and fire/sound. Might ask about both. If you look at the pics on my traulsen build when I took all the insulation out yesterday the roxul I had in the bottom was...
If you look at the burnt insulation in the pics, it shows an important point. One I missed. It doesn't matter if you keep the box under 200 degrees, the element will far exceed that in order to get the box temp there.
Glad it's gone good riddance
Well, only about 2 hours and the insulation is gone. Going to pressure wash it to get a little more out if possible. Then the fun part. How to get it back together
