It’s an HBT smoker. Sling steel is a dealer. They have a Facebook page and owners Facebook page. I know the plate isn’t completely weld in so grease will drip down the sides.
You need DRY SEASONED wood to get it up to temp, I’ve learned that the hard way. Check craigslist market place and start splitting your own and letting it season. That think won’t get hot on just charcoal. It needs dry wood spilts.
I’ve noticed if I add a preheated split or 2 I get a raging hot fire and a heavy gray to black smoke with awful smell. But if I add 1 or 2 I heated splits np. What the problem?
A cheap Lowe’s offset will make or break you. That how I started, but a Lang will be nite and day difference in fire management. But if u don’t have DRY seasoned wood it won’t matter what ur cooking on. Look what’s forsale on CL or Facebook markets place for used Lang, also Lang user Facebook page.
Another guy talked to said instead of using splits the size of a coke can he uses in the size of a 2 Litter soda bottle and that has helped him you could try that.
How do you run the intake on your firebox wide open you could try really cutting it back maybe a quarter open after you have a nice good size bed of coals going.
I still haven’t solved it. I’ve talked with those that have the same problems they feel like it’s too hot of a fire do you notice any black smoke coming out of the stack a lot of smoke in the firebox when you add a split or two to do you smell like a bad burning smell of plastic.?
Is it a homemade smoker? I bought a homemade smoker before and there was a lot of unfinished and poor quality work, that I didn’t know about. Spent $1000 with local welder make it right.
