    Cleaning the Masterbuilt Cold Smoker??

I'm going to assume that Masterbuilt is smart enough not to use hazardous paint for the cold smoker.  Either way, I haven't heard of anyone getting sick from using it.

    Cleaning the Masterbuilt Cold Smoker??

I've had the clogging problem at times as well.  I have taken a wire brush and scrubbed the hell out of the inside, which has seemed to help quite a bit. I would suggest using a wire brush attachment in a drill and clean it thoroughly.

MES 30" and Cold Smoker Attachment- 1st newbie smoke of a 6lb chicken, some thoughts...

I would assume that, much like having the lid off, having the cold smoker detached is a bad idea.  If anything, you may want to open the vent full and start the cold smoker.  Once you achieve your TBS, set your vent to the desired position. My MES has been off some as well, but only about 10-11...

Newbie getting a MES 30", ET-73 and a Cold Smoking Kit.

I don't know if this will fit into the dinner, but I have made some of the smoked four cheese mac n cheese from the Masterbuilt cookbook.  Just a tip, my family didn't like this recipe with wood chips in the smoker.  Instead, I just let the seasoning of the unit flavor the mac n cheese. I've...

    Masterbuilt coldsmoker

I know that sometimes the chips will stick to the side of the chute, but did you notice the pellets doing the same? I'm contemplating making a switch to pellets.

    Masterbuilt coldsmoker

After QVC screwed up my MES order, I received a $50 credit, which I used for my MECS.  I thought about the AMNPS, but the MECS has worked just fine. With some cheap quick connect metal dryer connect, it's brought the temps down and produces some great TBS.

    Masterbuilt coldsmoker

Well, I really haven't been able to dive into a lot of cold smoking.  However, I have on a few occasions started the cold smoker while I prepare some of the meat.  There isn't much of a climb, if at all.   But I do live in Houston, so the internal temp of my smoker can be in the 80's or 90's on...

    Masterbuilt coldsmoker

That's why I added the tubing between the two units.  I actually cut it in half and installed it, so you can play around with it quite a bit.  Out of the box, the MECS slides right into the chip tube, and is secured using a hook pin with a wing nut.  The heating element for the MECS is at the...

    Masterbuilt coldsmoker

The temp increase wasn't significant, but I would like to cold smoke a pork belly or cheese in the future, so I went ahead and made the mod.   I haven't had a chance to really dive into cold smoking yet, as I live in Houston.  We have finally hit our tiny window of temps in the 50's and 60's.

    Masterbuilt coldsmoker

I love my Masterbuilt Coldsmoker.  While I've only used chips thus far, the screen at the bottom is certainly capable of supporting pellet use. A few quick notes though. I went to The Home Depot and purchased a few feet of aluminum hosing designed for dryer machines.  I then taped the sides...

    Well now what?

I ordered the MES 30 Gen I from QVC and I'm fairly satisfied.  There was some confusion from QVC, so I had to wait longer than I originally had planned, but I was credited with $25. The unit was missing the connector for the meat probe to plug into the main controller, but Masterbuilt is...

    MES 30 Too Hot?

I have the Gen I MES 30, and did my first smoke today.  Checked temps throughout the seasoning and a 5 hour rib recipe.  Temps were accurate to within 10 degrees throughout. I plan on getting the cold smoke kit, but pleased with the performance thus far.

    New from Houston

Correction:  I've actually got the Gen 1 MES 30. Not quite what I thought I was receiving, but still quite pleased. I received my smoker earlier today, and unfortunately the connector for the meat probe was MIA.  Calling in the AM to have a new one sent out.  I was able to season the smoker...

    New from Houston

Hi all, Over the past few days I've been reading a lot of information on the Gen II MES 40, which I'll be receiving today from QVC.  Side note, it's been my first experience from QVC, and quite possibly my last. Nevertheless, I was able to pickup the MES 40 for $250. I have some experience...
