    Blue Cheese and String Cheese

I make a fantastic bleu cheese alfredo.  Now you have me thinking about trying it with smoked bleu....

    Building a smoker...

If you can accurately measure the true volume (fill it with water and measure how much it takes, for example), you can subtract the (calculated) volume of the straight-walled barrel section; the remaining volume will be the sum of the two endcaps.  Divide by two, and you have the volume of each...

RF Build: A Story in Pictures

There's nothing like a little public shame to get things moving again. When last we left, I had built one side of the firebox frame. I was using .035 flux core wire, and blowing holes in the square tubing I was using for the frame; I just couldn't turn it down low enough.  I had also been...

    Firebox Design Review and Critique

I got sidetracked by life, and haven't done anything more.  I was just about to start back up this week, but the weather kept me from it; the past couple days have been nice, but I've been helping with the cleanup following the tornado. Bad, bad stuff up there.  I watched it go by from two...

Starting my build 250 gallon propane smoker with rear facing firebox.

OkieLEO, where in Norman are you?  I'm just over on the west side, down in the flats, and I'm about to start on my project again too.

    wheels and axles...

I did my grill with a hand-held Dewalt, and I didn't own a grinder at the time. Definitely grind the flat if you're able.  :-)

    wheels and axles...

What about cutting the rod to length, running it through the frame, putting the wheels on, and drilling holes through the rod for cotter keys to keep the wheels from coming off? I fixed an old grill that way after the press-on wheel retainers disappeared, and it's been better-than-new for at...

Home made BBQ sauce, why use ketchup?

Oh, I assure you, I believe it.  I'm a law student, and I've used the skill to very good effect.

Home made BBQ sauce, why use ketchup?

The question of whether tomatoes are fruit or veggies has actually been decided by the Supreme Court.  No, I am not kidding: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nix_v._Hedden Now, you may be asking yourselves why the Supreme Court would take up such a humble topic.  The answer--as with many cases--is...

RF Build: A Story in Pictures

Stalled.  I started working on the firebox frame, but finals are coming up soon, and I also have a paper to finish.

    Questions about my smoker design.

I would think you'd get uneven temperatures, notably on the left side (by the stack).  With the firebox feeding the middle, the smoke doesn't circulate under the left side RF plate, so there's no heating from below, and the left side is the last stop for the smoke, so it will have given up some...

Interesting idea.  What about using one oversized stack, and damping it partway?

    A Question for You Welders

...and I completely forgot to answer one of your questions.  Check out http://www.weldingweb.com; I've learned an awful lot there.

I love BBQ! I've got some tools! I kinda have to build one, don't I ?

Love the table; I may have to steal that idea.  I'm even more intrigued with your RF plate, though.  I'm doing a small-ish (24" dia x 55" long) smoker, and I've been avoiding the idea of the drip channel because I really don't want to cut up my 3/8" plate, especially not to weld in a skinny...
