If you can accurately measure the true volume (fill it with water and measure how much it takes, for example), you can subtract the (calculated) volume of the straight-walled barrel section; the remaining volume will be the sum of the two endcaps. Divide by two, and you have the volume of each...
There's nothing like a little public shame to get things moving again. When last we left, I had built one side of the firebox frame. I was using .035 flux core wire, and blowing holes in the square tubing I was using for the frame; I just couldn't turn it down low enough. I had also been...
I got sidetracked by life, and haven't done anything more. I was just about to start back up this week, but the weather kept me from it; the past couple days have been nice, but I've been helping with the cleanup following the tornado.

Now, you may be asking yourselves why the Supreme Court would take up such a humble topic. The answer--as with many cases--is...
I would think you'd get uneven temperatures, notably on the left side (by the stack). With the firebox feeding the middle, the smoke doesn't circulate under the left side RF plate, so there's no heating from below, and the left side is the last stop for the smoke, so it will have given up some...
Love the table; I may have to steal that idea. I'm even more intrigued with your RF plate, though. I'm doing a small-ish (24" dia x 55" long) smoker, and I've been avoiding the idea of the drip channel because I really don't want to cut up my 3/8" plate, especially not to weld in a skinny...
