Had a little spare time to work on my reverse flow's

Wow, you're pretty much right around the corner from me then Tom.  I'm within rock throwing distance from Benton elementary.   I've seen that co2 kit you are talking about and I'm thinking about getting one.  I've only run flux core in my machine.  I have a small Campbell-Hausfeld mig/flux...

I think I made a major miscalculation, please help.

Thanks, that is exactly what I needed.  I must have google searched semi-circle area calculators all afternoon and never found exactly what I needed.  I did find this one interesting since it helps calculate volume in tanks with sphearical ends.  http://www.arachnoid.com/TankCalc/    For my...

Buiding insulated Vert. smoker from scratch! how are my plans?

Expanded metal sheet makes a good rack and is cheap to build if you stay away from the box stores.  I just bought a 24" x 48" piece of 11 ga. 3/4" expanded sheet at Metal by the foot for $18.  Home Depot wants the same amount for 12" x 18".

I think I made a major miscalculation, please help.

So I finally got a little time to work on my smoker yesterday evening.  I was hoping to get my firebox put together and weld in the convection plate.  I had just picked up the plates to build my firebox and the first thing I did was cut out the firebox to cooking chamber opening on one of the...

New guy starting a small RF project

Pics as promised Dry fitting the reverse flow plate. Starting to take shape.  The tank is still just clamped to the base for now and no that Coleman oven is not the actual fire box.  When I decided to switch to a square box I had to recalculate everything.  Turns out the fire box needs to be...

    Pit Calculator

I found two different versions online while planning my build and both offered that option. I found both to be useful.  The first one does not show an option for fire box dimensions until you enter your smoke chamber values. http://webpages.charter.net/tomchism/Dodis%20Calculator/...

New guy starting a small RF project

Made a little bit of progress tonight.  Fabbed up my base unit from 1" x 2" tube, some 1" angles and 9 ga. expanded steel.  Got my wheels mounted and the tank temporarily clamped in place.  Pics tomorrow, it was just too dark by the time I thought about it.  Also decided to make a late game...

Nice build you have going neighbor.  I've been enjoying watching this thread although I am a little envious of your plasma cutter.   Can't wait to see them complete.  Was hoping I'd get a chance to work on my project before the weather turned south this afternoon but oh well.

New guy starting a small RF project

Guys, thanks for the replies.  Well I've decided to go with the bigger fire box even though I'm slightly concerned about it being too much fire.  The wife likes the look of it with the fire box turned sideways so that's the way I'm gonna put it.  I've made a little progress since I first posted...
